Amazonas

Von La Paz aus mache ich mit dem Flugzeug einen kleinen Abstecher in den Dschungel. Der Flug dauert nur 30min aber klimatisch liegen Welten (und die Anden) zwischen dem bolivianischen Teil des Amazonas und La Paz. Nach den kalten Nächten sind die 30 Grad bei Ankunft erstmal eine willkommene Abwechslung. Hier mache ich eine dreitätige Bootstour durch einen Nationalpark weil es hier in der Trockenzeit einfacher ist Tiere zu entdecken. Tatsächlich entdecken wir jede Menge Kaimane, rosa Flussdelfine, verschiedene Affen, Capybaras (riesige Nagetiere) und natürlich alle möglichen Vögel. Wir gehen auch auf Piranhafang und sind sogar mehr oder weniger erfolgreich (viel ist an den kleinen Fischen aber nicht dran, wie wir beim Mittagessen feststellen). Alles in allem sind es sehr entspannte 5 Tage in dieser Region bis es wieder zurück nach La Paz geht.

From La Paz I make a short side trip to the jungle. The flight is only 30min long but because of the Andes the climate is vastly different here in the Bolivian part of the Amazon. After the cold nights the last couple of weeks, the 30 degrees when I get there feel perfect. Here I take a three day boat tour through a nearby national park because the chances of spotting animals here during the dry season are high. And we do spot a lot of caimans, pink river dolphins, monkeys, capybaras (giant rodents) and lots of birds. We also wet piranha fishing and even caught some (we discovered during lunch that there is not much meat on these little guys though). All in all I had a very relaxing five day break in this region before making my way back to La Paz.Read more
