    Encarnacion - day 2

    January 29, 2023 in Paraguay ⋅ ☁️ 31 °C

After relaxing time we left our hotel around 2:30 in the afternoon and drove to the 2 Jesuit Missions nearby Encarnación. Jesuit Missions are very important part of the Latin America’s history. Only in Paraguay around 140.000 people were part of the different Missions. Unfortunately in late 18th century all the members of the missions were killed by very brutal means and most of the missions were destroyed as they were looking for the mission treasures which of course didn’t exist. Nowadays 2 of the missions in Paraguay are part of the UNESCO heritage - Jesús de Tavarangüe and La Santisima Trinidad de Parana (the most preserved Mission in Latin America). The trip was very interesting and we could also learn from our driver some things about life in Paraguay. He drove us till the Paraguay border as we were leaving this country and heading to our next stop ~ Buenos Aires. Border crossing went smoothly only Flo got bit angry when the lady thought that he might need visa to enter Argentina 🤣 you know Flo is always so proud how good German passport is 😁🙊… so good night Buenos Aires see you in 12 hours 😁👍Read more
