  • Salvador de Bahia - day 1 & 2

    5. tammikuuta 2023, Brasilia ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

2 days in Salvador de Bahia. Salvador used to be a capital city of Brasil until 1763.

Directly the first day after breakfast we decided to explore the city without internet, offline maps and enough cash 😅 … we ended up in some favela where local told us to get out because it’s super dangerous 😅😅 taxi driver was shaking his head and telling us what the hell were you doing 😂 but all good we drove to the beach and we’re the only white tourists there. It was super fun until we spent our last money on drinks… well it’s easy let’s get some cash and watch sunset in some nice bar before going back to hotel. Well we didn’t know that most of the ATMs don’t accept foreign cards so it took us 1 hour to find one ATM 🤣 luckily we could also purchase in the shopping mall SIM card so now we can’t get lost anymore.

Second day of our stay we decided to join the free walking tour of the old town recommended by the hotel employee. The tour was okay the guide’s English was difficult to understand and the tour took one hour longer then planned… we were super exhausted and just wishing to be over 🙊 in the city center there is a museum of Bahia gastronomy and also restaurant. It’s buffet style restaurant with all the traditional afro Brazilian dishes so we decided to give it a try and paid 75 B$ per person. The food was okay but also nothing special. Afternoon we took easy got some ice cream, cocktails and went to the theater to watch local folklore performance. That was really cool experience and we would recommend it to everyone coming to Salvador de Bahia

  • Chapada Diamantina - day 1

    7. tammikuuta 2023, Brasilia ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

After 8 hour bus ride in the night (with the luxury bus seat which even Flo loved 🤣) we arrived in hiking paradise National Park Chapada Diamantina. We got 4 full days to explore the area. After check in and some relax we decided to do easy hike / walk to Ribeirao do Meio. Beautiful waterfall and lot of natural swimming pools 😍 the walk takes approximately 1 hour one way and it’s really cool. We had to cross few rivers, walk through the forest until reaching the place. We would totally recommend the place for relax and Picknick 🧺😍👌🏼Lue lisää

    8. tammikuuta 2023, Brasilia ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

For our second day we booked the tour with the car. During the day we stopped in 4 different places -> Cachoeira do Mosquito, Poço do Diabo, Vale de Piscinas, Morro de Pai Inacio. The tour was really cool and long we spent in total 10 hours exploring the area and we are excited to see what next 2 days will bringLue lisää

    9. tammikuuta 2023, Brasilia ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Next day we woke up again quite early and started 8:30 our next trip to Cachoeira do Fumaça one of the highest waterfalls in Brasil with height of 380m! Starting point of the hike is the village Vale do Capão. Although it’s only 72km far away from Lençóis we needed more then 2 hours by car one way. First one hour is normal bumpy path and second hour off-road 😅. The funny thing is that the money for building the proper street has been collected but the locals don’t want that. Around 11 we were finally ready to start the hike to the waterfall. The hike is in total 12 km long and takes 4 hours go and back. First part is super steep and then it’s 1 hour jungle walk till the waterfall. In the morning in was cloudy and not so warm so it was perfect. After 2 hours walk and 1 river crossing we arrived at the first viewpoint and it was incredible 😍. Our drive Toco prepare picnic for us and after taking pictures we departed one hour later to the second viewpoint 😍. The way back was also fine only the sun was shining a lot and we both got a bit sunburned (we used 50 SPF sunscreen more then once 😅). On the way back we had short break in second waterfall Riachinho where we could cool down a bit and get ready for never ending drive back to Lençóis 😅 we arrived at 20:00 back very tired and super happy. What a day ❤️Lue lisää

  • Chapada Diamantina - day 4

    10. tammikuuta 2023, Brasilia ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Our last day in Chapada started with check out, planning our next weeks of the trip and some work (Flo only 😄) later we went to the town for a lunch and looked for the restaurants with the sign “Comida por kilo” ~ food per kilo, that’s special concept of the lunch menu where you take plate put food from buffet you like and you pay per weight. That’s so far the best food we could find in Brazil in the last 6 days. After tasty lunch we went to the Muritiba park to swim in the natural swimming pools. It was very relaxing afternoon 😎 we returned to the village to enjoy sunset and get some street food. It’s time to say goodbye to this beautiful place as our night bus departs at 22:45 back to Salvador to continue our adventure.Lue lisää

  • Arraial do Cabo - day 1

    11. tammikuuta 2023, Brasilia ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

After very very long transfer we arrived in Arraial do Cabo. The distances in Brazil is something different then what we are used to from Europe… the distance from Chapada Diamantina to Arraial do Cabo is more then 1500 km and due to the lack of transportation options / infrastructure we had to take 2 buses and 1 flight. We are very excited to wash our clothes tomorrow and see one of the best beaches in Brazil 😍🇧🇷Lue lisää

    12. tammikuuta 2023, Brasilia ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

After breakfast we headed to the beach. On the way we wanted to drop our clothes to the laundry and pick it up later. Unfortunately laundry was so full that our clothes would be done in 3 days when we are already in Rio. As Flo has no clean clothes anymore we had to go to self service laundry and do it by ourselves. After 2 hours we were finally done but hike to near beach would be too much. We decided instead to do the quad bike tour and drive to some remote beaches. Flo really loved it and I was really scared 😂 we drove to the few remote beaches, viewpoints, lake and drive though the jungle. The tour ended nearby the Praia Grande (big beach, famous for sunset views) so we decided to spend the rest of our day there and enjoy the afternoon 😍 the day didn’t go exactly as planned but we really enjoyed it 🤩Lue lisää

  • Arraial do Cabo - day 3

    13. tammikuuta 2023, Brasilia ⋅ 🌧 24 °C

Today we planned to visit one of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil - Praia do Pontal do Atalaia. There are two ways to reach the beach by taxi or by boat taxi. We decided to order Uber after we bought drinks and food for a day. First two Uber rides got canceled and second drove us for two minutes and then we had to get out. Apparently only official taxis are allowed to enter the road and there is a fix price 15 reais per person for ride. The advantage of taking the Uber is that the money gets deducted automatically from your bank account, official taxi is paid by cash. We run out of cash again and no ATM for foreigners is available here. 😅 so what can we do now?! We were negotiating with taxi drivers and with my bad Portuguese we could at the end pay in the shop nearby and she gave the taxi driver cash. Extra charge for the service 5 reais. The bumping ride with 8 other passengers in the taxi was okay and we were shocked by amount of people going to this famous beach. The beach was really nice don’t get me wrong but the amount of people, boat tours stopping for swimming and big waves didn’t make our stay that pleasant … also sun beds and umbrellas for almost 30€ 😅 am I in Saint Tropez or Santorini?! We decided to enjoy our day anyway and spoiled us with Açaí and caipirinha 😍. For the way back we decided to try to the water taxi and then explored the area around the port. It’s time to pack our bags again as tomorrow afternoon our bus goes to Rio 🇧🇷Lue lisää

  • Arraial do Cabo - day 4

    14. tammikuuta 2023, Brasilia ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

Last day in Arraial we woke up early and went to the second most beautiful beach in the area - Praia do Forno. In our opinion that was the best beach in the region but can be that we were also influenced by the fact that 8:30 in the morning the beach was still very empty and we had this beautiful place almost for ourselves. When we left around 11:00 the beach was packed and thousands of people were hiking to the beach. Yes hiking, in order to reach the beach you need to hike for 10-15 minutes or take boat taxi. We absolutely loved it but would not recommend to go to Arraial in high season. At 14:00 we departed by bus to Rio to spend following 6 night there. We were immediately impressed by the beauty of our hotel. After dinner we returned to the room and nice surprise was waiting for us 😍Lue lisää

  • Rio de Janeiro - day 1

    15. tammikuuta 2023, Brasilia ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

After delicious breakfast and trying to figure out what we all want to see here we decided to take Uber to Maracanã Stadium to do the tour. Flo was checking everything out and was very happy 😄 I as not a big football fan found the tour also really cool and definitely better then the one we did one year ago in Madrid. After the tour we left outside waited ages for next taxi. The temperatures here are crazy 😅 in the center it was showing 38 degrees but we are not sure if that was correct… our next stop was museum of tomorrow (Museu do Amanhã) this place is not only impressive from outside but also really interesting inside. We usually do not go to museum but here we spent 3 hours checking the current exposition about Amazon rainforest and standard tour about universe, our planet, humans and future 👌🏼 it was super educational and interesting. Next to the museum was also a really cute local market with live music and the Olympic boulevard. This area is called Porto Maravilha and it’s relatively new area of Rio. We found there really cool food market and amazing graffiti wall made by famous artist from São Paulo Eduardo Kobra. As a Christmas gift we got from Flo’s parents tickets for Sugar Loaf mountain. I really wanted to go up for sunset and as we had fast track ticket we could also skip the line. So thankful for this fast track tickets (thank you Martin & Katrin ☺️) we overpassed around 1000 desperately waiting tourists, got to VIP lounge, got drinks for free and departed with next gondola up 😍. We enjoyed the views, got some food and drinks and watched amazing sunset 🤩 the prices in the restaurants up there were also reasonable and I didn’t find any price difference compared to the city. Although there were lot of people it didn’t felt that crazy. Due to two cable cars people spread in the area and we didn’t have to wait for the cable cars that long. We returned back to hotel quite late, tired and happy ☺️Lue lisää

  • Rio de Janeiro - day 2

    16. tammikuuta 2023, Brasilia ⋅ 🌙 25 °C

Today we wanted to take it slow 🙊 we departed 10:30 from hotel drop the laundry, got some cash and took taxi to the Royal Botanical Garden. You can either walk around by yourself or take the tour with golf caddy. We decided to walk and enjoy the park. It was really cool and calm 😍 we saw many trees and plants from Amazon rainforest, huge palm trees and orchid garden 😁 next stop was Parque Lage. Beautiful Vila and park built once for industrialist Henrique Lage and opened later for public. The Vila is very beautiful but due to Instagram this place got extremely popular. Inside of Vila there is supposed to be a nice cafe but we would have to wait for 1,5 hour to get a table. So we just took picture from outside and left to cafe we saw on the way. For the rest of the day we wanted to rent bikes and bike along the beach. Rio has a really good network of shared bikes. Unfortunately foreigners cannot use their app and the only possibility is to go to the self service machines (which not every bike station have). We went to 3 different stations, tried to put our details twice in but without success… what a shame that some things are just so complicated for foreigners 😅 luckily one American guy is offering bike rental close to Copacabana so for 10€ we got 2 bikes for next 2 hours. We drove 12 km along Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon beach till the Leblon Viewpoint. It was really amazing experience and we enjoyed it a lot 🤩 and we are already planning to go back to the beach other day 😍🇧🇷Lue lisää

    17. tammikuuta 2023, Brasilia ⋅ 🌙 25 °C

Today we wanted to see the statue of Christ the Redeemer on the top of Corcovado mountain. There are two ways to visit the site - special taxi which takes you below the statue to the visitor center and then hike up the hill or to take the rack railway Corcovado which takes you directly under the statues. As the train station is walking distance from our hotel the choice was clear for us. The train starts running from 7:00 in the morning so we decided to go directly in the morning and escape the crowds and heat. Unfortunately 6:40 there was already crazy queue 😅😅😅 luckily we managed to get on the first train and be one of the first ones on the top. We enjoyed the view took the pictures and returned back to our hotel quite early for hotel breakfast and chill by the pool. In the afternoon we planned to do the hike. Flo was not feeling well and we decided to relax for the rest of the day.Lue lisää

  • Rio de Janeiro - day 4

    18. tammikuuta 2023, Brasilia ⋅ 🌙 24 °C

Today was a very packed day. We spent the whole day in the city center, visited all the important sights and walked almost 15km. I finally persuaded Flo to take public bus in Rio (twice 🤣) otherwise we were always using Uber which is very affordable depending on distance we usually pay between 2-5€. Bus ride costs here around 0,8€ 😎 I really wish we would have these prices in Munich. Our first stop was the famous staircase Escadaria Selaron built by the artist Jorge Selaron in 23 years. It’s amazing collection of more than 2000 different tiles collected from more then 60 countries around the world. Unfortunately also this places became next insta hotspot and at the beginning of the staircase it was impossible to move 😅. Very close to the staircase is the Carioca Aqueduct and Cathedral of Rio. Cathedral has very unique form and it’s very ugly from outside and interesting from inside. Definitely something special. Maybe 15 minutes walk from the cathedral you can find another very important buildings of former capital city of Brazil - municipal theater and national library. It is possible to enter the library for free. It is the biggest library in Latin America with the collection of more than 9 million of books. Very impressive building and interior. After little break at nearby cafe we started to walk to the next famous library - Royal Portuguese Cabinet of Reading. On the way we saw very nice restaurant “comida por kilo” so after seeing the second library we sat for while and eat tasty and cheap lunch (lunch for 2 and 3 drinks for 10€). After checking clothes market, one more church and spending all our money in pharmacy 🤣 we were pretty tired. We took second bus up to the hill to the Santa Teresa district to have dinner and walk a bit around this art neighborhood. Santa Teresa is famous for its yellow tram, views over the city and restaurant Bar do Mineiro. This restaurant is famous for the best Feijoada in Rio. Feijoada is Brazilian National dish - stew of beans, sausage and meat served with rice, orange and spinach. So we of course had to try it. The food was good, not the best dish we ever ate but definitely tasty 👌🏼.Lue lisää

  • Rio de Janeiro - day 5

    19. tammikuuta 2023, Brasilia ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

It’s our last day in Rio unfortunately 😢 we will depart tmr morning to our next stop - Ilha Grande. I really wanted to go hiking in Rio. As Flo follows the Motto: happy wife happy life we went hiking ❤️😂. To get to the starting point of the hike is adventure itself. You get out of the taxi by the entrance to the Favela Vidigal and then you have to go up by van or moto taxi for 5 reais per person. We were bit scared to drive up the hills by motorbike and wanted to take van. Unfortunately there were not enough people and we would have to wait for quite some time. So yeah we jumped on bike, tried to explain the drivers that it would be cool to get some helmets and that we want to drive slow 😂😂😂😂😂. We survived the ride up, paid small fee to the local community and started the hike. It took us 50 minutes up (it’s 3 km steep walk up) to reach the peak of the two brothers mountain. Omg I think we never sweat that much 😅😅😅😅 but I am very proud we did that the view was amazing and there were not many people up there 😍👌🏼. On the way down we stopped for a drink and start talking to really nice American couple. We decided to spend the rest of the day together and enjoy the afternoon in Ipanema beach. Guys played even ball game with locals and went to the nearby pub to watch football match. We got very tasty farewell dinner in beach club and watched sunset. We will probably meet Erik and Gabi in Ilha Grande in few days and later in Buenos Aires again 😁.Lue lisää

  • Ilha Grande - day 1

    20. tammikuuta 2023, Brasilia ⋅ 🌧 23 °C

We departed from Rio with the 8:20 bus to the small village Conceição de Jacareí one of the 3 ports to Ilha Grande (the one with the shortest distance to the island). The distance from bus terminal Novo Rio is only 122km and can be done under two hours. The buses in 4, 5 and 6 in the morning were completely sold out. I understood later why 😂 the drive took us 4 hours, I don’t even know how many car accidents and traffic jams we saw on the way 😒 once we finally reached Conceição de Jacareí we had two options - wait for 13:30 boat or take immediately the speed boat taxi. We decided for second opinion and we departed in few minutes. The boat was super fast and small, just 12 passengers and it was raining 😅😅😅 not very ideal conditions for see crossing 🤣 well we survived and decided not do sth like that again 🤣🙊. After very tasty and overpriced lunch (they changed us 3€ per person couvert and 10% service charge on the whole bill on top which we didn’t know before) we left to our Airbnb. We are still not a big fans of local cuisine so we want to cook here for next days instead. Shopping in local supermarket was fun and we managed to find everything we needed. In the afternoon we explored local village, book boat trip for tomorrow and washed Flo’s clothes again 🙊 the island is very beautiful and calm. It’s such a huge difference to busy Rio. We loved Rio but there is definitely something special about this place. Jungle, amazing beaches, good vibes and no cars 😍 people either walk here or take boat to other parts of the island. Adventure tourists can even walk once around the whole island it takes 4-5 days and the route is 70 km long.Lue lisää

  • Ilha Grande - day 2

    21. tammikuuta 2023, Brasilia ⋅ 🌙 24 °C

For today we booked the boat trip around the whole island. In total we had 5 stops (see picture n.2) and in each stop we spent +- 1 hour. Our first stop was small beach Cadaxo - famous for its rocks. The beach was nice but after a while it was really pack and people were even queuing to go up to the rocks to take pictures 😅. We were quite happy that we left after 40 minutes to our next stop. On the way to our next beach it started to rain heavily and it was very uncomfortable to sit on the boat 🙈. Luckily the rain was soon over and we arrived in Parnaioca, the beach where salt and sweet water mix, also part of natural protected area. 3rd stop was the beautiful Aventureito beach. This beach got famous for its beautiful lagoon and 45 degrees shaped palm tree. Here we had our longest stop so we got some drinks in the bar, swim and took a lot of photos 🤩. Then we drove shortly to Dos Meros beach. Popular place for snorkeling and scuba diving 🤿🌴. In Marquez we had very late lunch and then we departed back to Abraão. The trip was very cool and we were as always the only international tourists 😂. In the evening we went for a drink to the center and there was a concert and some big street food market, this place is really awesome 😁Lue lisää

Today we had a very relaxing day and didn’t take many photos either 😁 we walked to beach number 5 which is around 40 minutes walk from our accommodation and spent the whole day there. After home made dinner in our Airbnb apartment we went to the center one more time, got some cake in street food bakery and milk shake for Flo 😍 we will definitely miss this place and would also not mind to spend few more days here. So until next time 😁😉Lue lisää

  • Paraty - day 1

    23. tammikuuta 2023, Brasilia ⋅ 🌧 24 °C

After 30 minutes boat and 2 hours bus ride we arrived in Paraty. Small colonial town also recognized by UNESCO. Paraty is small and charming old town. Small streets and canals reminded us a bit of Venice. This town used to be once very import port for transporting gold from Minas Gerais province to Portugal. Nowadays there are several festivals held during the year and tourists come here to try one the best restaurants in Brazil, visit Cachaca (local alcohol) factories and try local most popular cocktail Jorge Amado. Unfortunately it was raining heavily in the afternoon so we decided to skip the free walking tour and explore the town. We will continue sightseeing tomorrow 😉Lue lisää

  • Paraty - day 2

    24. tammikuuta 2023, Brasilia ⋅ 🌧 23 °C

Today at 11:00 we departed to our jeep tour to explore the National park Serra da Bocaina. The jeep tour lasted 6 hours and we visited 3 different waterfalls and 2 different cachaca production sites. During the visit of the waterfalls it even started to rain so we had the real jungle feeling. In the second cachaca factory we bought some small bottles for our bar 😁🍹 the tour was nice we would only wish to have sometimes more time and not to rush from A to B. Also the waterfalls in Chapada Diamantina were more spectacular. In the late afternoon we went for a walk to Paraty old town. Some streets were flooded due to heavy rain last night and that created perfect reflection of the buildings 😍. Paraty is very charming place to spend one or two nights. There are also plenty of things to do nearby like beaches in Trinidad. Boat tour to nearby island or hikes in mountains.Lue lisää

  • São Paulo

    25. tammikuuta 2023, Brasilia ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

Another night in the bus (this time I managed to take a picture of our business class bus seats) and we woke up in São Paulo. We got around 6 hours time to explore the city before heading to the airport. São Paulo has according to skyscanner where I always check the flight tickets 3 airports but the Airport Viracopos ist 120km away from São Paulo 😅😅 so it is same story as calling Memmingen Airport Munich West 🤣. Well back to the walk around São Paulo the town is huge, modern and in many ways it reminded us of Shanghai. Unfortunately you also see the poverty and lot of homeless people everywhere building out of trash shelters in the parks. We took Subway and drove to center to eat breakfast 😋 it was nice change to the hotel breakfasts (eggs, bread and fruit always 🤣) to order sth different. We walked around the city, entered 2 shopping malls which were closed due to celebration day (São Paulo celebrated today its 469 year anniversary), went to the cathedral and finished our tour in Food Market. Following Saša’s adviced I had to order local speciality mortadella sandwich 😋😍. The time in the city was over and we took the bus to the airport. We landed in Foz do Iguaçu in the evening and were even lucky to spot the Iguazu river and waterfalls from the airplane ✈️❤️Lue lisää

  • Iguazu - day 1

    26. tammikuuta 2023, Brasilia ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Our trip around Brazil is coming to the end. We are sleeping till Saturday in Foz do Iguazu (the city on the Brazilian side of the waterfalls) before continuing our journey to the next country. From sightseeing point of view is today our last day in Brazil. We want in next 2 days explore the Iguazu waterfalls - largest waterfall system of the world. Waterfalls are right on the border between Brazil and Argentina with Brazil covering only about 20% of the falls. After breakfast, laundry and food shopping we were ready to start sightseeing. From the city it takes around 30 minutes to get to the visitor center of the waterfalls. We bought our tickets and departed with 11:00 bus to the waterfalls. The waterfalls are located 13km from the visitor center and there are shuttle buses included in the ticket price (+- 15€ per person). Once you get out of the bus there is a 1.4km long walk along different viewpoints. The views are since the beginning amazing but the views are getting every time better and you get every time much closer 👌🏼🇧🇷 the highlight is the walk on Devil’s throat. This part was quite packed and we got wet but it was incredible and totally worth it 😍. After some rest in visitor center we drove by bus back. As it was still early and we had some energy left we decided to visit the bird park right across the street. It’s actually more rescue center then the standard zoo and we really liked it. The walk takes around 1,5 hour and can be really well combined with the falls. We returned to our hotel happy and tired and decided to rest a bit for the rest of the day. It’s 36 degrees here right now and we are definitely not used to that 🥵Lue lisää

  • Iguazu - day 2

    27. tammikuuta 2023, Argentiina ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

After quite uncomfortable and warm night we woke up at 7:30, got ready, went to the breakfast and departed 8:30 with shared van to Argentina. We were first thinking to go to the waterfalls by public transport but we would need to exchange buses and get out of the bus on the borders. Local transport agency can send to the border controls your passport details beforehand and therefore you don’t need to wait. So it was definitely worth the money to do it this way. Only 45 minutes later we were already in Argentinian Iguazu Waterfalls visitor center and buying our entrance tickets. It was for us quite disappointing that the Devil’s Throat path is completely closed since October 2022 and Lower Circuit was also partially closed. Compared to Brazilian side, Argentinian side has 3 main hiking trails - Lower Circuit, Upper Circuit and Devil‘s Throat. Unfortunately we could see just part of it and the paths were packed with tourists. In general we really enjoyed the views and excursion but we both agreed that we liked the Brazilian side more. At 3pm we got picked up from visitor center and drove back to Brazil. After some rest in hotel room we went to the city center. Flo made some clothes shopping and got new haircut 😁. As farewell dinner (our last night in Brazil) we went to Chinese restaurant nearby and the portions were huge 🤣, food was super cheap (we paid 13€ for food and 3 drinks) and delicious. We took the rest with us for tomorrow lunch as we gonna be traveling to our next country 😉🇵🇾Lue lisää

  • Encarnacion - day 1

    28. tammikuuta 2023, Paraguay ⋅ 🌙 23 °C

After breakfast we needed to cross the border to Paraguay. Next to Foz do Iguaçu there is a city called Ciudad del Este in Paraguay known as Shopping paradise. People usually cross the border for a day trip and go shopping. If you want to continue traveling around Paraguay it is necessary to do the immigration procedure on both borders. There is an intercity bus which stops on both borders so we took the bus for 24 reais both of us and drove to Brazilian side. The immigration didn’t took long and we decided instead of waiting for next bus to cross the friendship bridge by feet and make the immigration in Paraguay. All went smoothly and in 10 minutes the bus arrived which took us to the bus terminal. Not long time after our arrival the bus to Encarnación was leaving. We book premium seats, bought some drinks and departed on our next journey to the most beautiful city in Paraguay. The drive was quite long and bus was stopped all the time 😅 even people selling drinks and food got sometimes in and tried to sell you everything 😁. Finally we arrived in our beautiful hotel and went to relax to our rooftop pool before heading to town. We originally decided to go to Encarnación / Paraguay for one reason to see the carnival. Unfortunately either I read wrong information in internet or the dates have changed but the carnival is starting instead of 28.1. on 4.2. 😢. As our hotel is walking distance from the Sambodromo we wanted to check it anyway. Luckily today they are making final trial of the carnival and just for 10.000 guaranies (1.2€) you can come and watch it 😁🇵🇾 so the plan for evening was settled. We walked around Costañera (coastal pedestrian road) till the San Jose Beach (actually Paraguay has no sea but the river Parana is at this point so big that you get this sea feeling anyway) we got nice dinner at the beach and watch sunset. You can see on the other side of the river Argentinian city Posadas. Around 8:30 we arrived back to Sambodromo to watch the carnival. I got super tasty cocktail just for 1.2€ 🤣 (all the cocktails were between 1.2 - 2€) and then we had to wait for more then hour for the carnival to start. Quite a lot of people came and the atmosphere was amazing. I can only imagine how great it will be next week when the place is full and all the people are dressed up 🤩🇵🇾 it was definitely night to be remembered ❤️Lue lisää

    29. tammikuuta 2023, Paraguay ⋅ ☁️ 31 °C

After relaxing time we left our hotel around 2:30 in the afternoon and drove to the 2 Jesuit Missions nearby Encarnación. Jesuit Missions are very important part of the Latin America’s history. Only in Paraguay around 140.000 people were part of the different Missions. Unfortunately in late 18th century all the members of the missions were killed by very brutal means and most of the missions were destroyed as they were looking for the mission treasures which of course didn’t exist. Nowadays 2 of the missions in Paraguay are part of the UNESCO heritage - Jesús de Tavarangüe and La Santisima Trinidad de Parana (the most preserved Mission in Latin America). The trip was very interesting and we could also learn from our driver some things about life in Paraguay. He drove us till the Paraguay border as we were leaving this country and heading to our next stop ~ Buenos Aires. Border crossing went smoothly only Flo got bit angry when the lady thought that he might need visa to enter Argentina 🤣 you know Flo is always so proud how good German passport is 😁🙊… so good night Buenos Aires see you in 12 hours 😁👍Lue lisää
