Tassie tour: Day 4

-- Around Derby -- 28km

We traded our 4 wheels for 2 today as we took off around Derby on mountain bikes. The town is famous for its amazing biking trails and has more bike rental stores than eateries. We took some beginners bikes (they still had a saddle that went up and down by pressing a button like an office chair 🤯) and did a couple laps of the lake to get our bearing then took off on the 20km Derby to Braxholm track. We stoped off for lunch at Braxholm and found an amazing little pie shop which had a mini zoo, Alpacas, Belgium Rabbits, Goats and chickens. They kept us entertained while we re-fuled. We made it back in one piece but definitely a little achy.

Derby is a quaint little town and everyone is super friendly, it's so quiet and out of the way that on a clear night a walk by the lake is lit by the Milkyway, unfortunately for us we haven't had a clear night yet. Maybe we'll just have to come back one day. Back in the car tomorrow to explore the northern coast.Read more
