Behalt - Amish Mennonite Heritage Center

The Amish & Mennonite Heritage Center in Berlin, Ohio, is home to Behalt, a 10-foot by 265-foot Mural - cyclorama painted by Heinz Gaugel. This mural illustrates the heritage of the Amish and Mennonite people from their origins in Switzerland in 1525 to the present day. The center also features a restored one-room schoolhouse, a pioneer barn housing a Conestoga wagon, and a bookstore offering resources on Anabaptist history and culture.

The Behalt mural was completed in October 1992 by artist Heinz Gaugel, who painted it over 14 years, beginning in 1978 and installing all scenes by 1990. Final detail work and retouching were finished two years later.

Danach besuchten wir Heini's Cheese Chalet, machten einen kleinen Spaziergang durch Berlin, fuhren über "Landstraßen" zurück nach Millersburg, um endlich eine Laundry aufzusuchen und landeten schlussendlich heute noch einmal bei Walmart.
