    Day 2 of Yellowstone

    July 21, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

After leaving camp canyon campground East Yellowstone, we drove north to mount Washburn. We saw a small herd of female elk that was on our way to hell roaring bridge hike. (2 mile round trip)
Next we went to Undine falls and ate breakfast there. (Egg sandwiches) we then went to the town of mammoth. Mammoth was the original headquarters for the us army, who were there to protect the park before the park rangers were established. We saw a handful of female elk in town and a calf. The original route we would have taken after mammoth was boiling river, 45th parallel, and the Roosevelt arch in Gardiner, Montana. The route was altered due to the severe flooding that washed away the roadway. We proceeded to mammoth hot springs, then drove across golden gate canyon and headed to Norris geyser basin. We walked along the boardwalk and were practically the only ones there. After Norris geyser, we went to see the artists’ paint pots, Beryl Spring, Gibbon Falls, and ended at Madison campground for the night. The lows got down to 40 degrees. It was pretty chilly!Read more
