    Next to it was the Dómkirkja, Iceland’s main cathedral. Built in 1796, over the years, this stone structure has undergone several renovations. It is now being re-built so that it would look like it did originally. It was a modest affair, but it played a vital role in the country’s conversion to Lutheranism.
