We spent 4 days in undoubtedly one of the most amazing Airbnbs there is and explored the Region in Matanzas or in a more accurate description to us a "Beautiful edge of the world". You will have a hard time finding a more peaceful and calming environment than here. Incredible sunsets on the seemingly endless black sanded beach or unforgettable dinner views from our Cabin. Until next time Matanzas!Leer más

  • San Pedro de Atacama

    28 de octubre de 2023, Chile ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

After a stopover in Santiago and a City Tour & Dinner with super friendly Alfredo, we were headed North and arrived in San Pedro de Atacama the next day. We spent the first night in the mountains, experiencing an incredible full moon in our "basecamp". After a lovely tour to the "piedras rojas" and meeting Frederik, a swedish ambassador who lives and works in Paraguay, we went on to enjoy Dinner with him in a delightful chilean Restaurant. We switched to a different Hostel the next day and it turned out to be a great decision. Experiencing Halloween in a desert town in the middle of nowhere with everyone dressing up in costumes was a unique thing aswell. The last day in San Pedro we rented some bikes and went on a mission into the desert, with the goal to get closer to volcano Licancambur. We didn't reach it but we still found spectacular Landscapes and enjoyed the emptiness of the desert. We left San Pedro and the Atacama desert headed for the Uyuni Salt flats.Leer más

  • UYUNI TOUR & Entering Bolivia

    2–4 nov. 2023, Bolivia ⋅ 🌬 19 °C

After some enjoyable days in San Pedro the Atacama we decided to head to Bolivia. We did so with a 3-day tour ending in the Salar de Uyuni, probably one of the most famous attractions Bolivia has to offer. Quite ironically, the actual Salar de Uyuni was not even the highlight of the tour, even though it was highly praised as the main star of the show. Little did we know we would meet our travel partners for the following 2 weeks in Bolivia in the van driving to the opposite side of the town while looking for the wrong Hostel. Almost an hour later, we got into the car with the wonderful Aussie couple, Dec & Shev. It didn't take us long to bond with them and the adventure began. After crossing the border on 4200m above sealevel, Dec having to bribe his way into the Country because they wouldn't accept his Australian nor his American passport, we made it to Bolivia. The Scenery was out of this world and we passed by many beautiful Lagoons, crazy rock formations and colourful mountains. We even stopped by some hot springs with a crazy view and ended up in a remote village in the Bolivian mountains for our first night. We really started to feel the Altitude during the night, since we were still on 4200m. We got to meet some lovely locals, got served an amazing dinner and were absolutely amazed by this place itself. The next day we were once again stunned by the beautiful scenery of the Bolivian Andes. Some of the viewpoints really blew our minds and it felt like being in a Movie. After a long day of travelling and marvelling, we reached our second hostel. This one was fascinatingly built out of salt from the salt flats. Very funny Australian card games, a jam session with Declan and his travel-guitar and a very pleasing dinner later, we went to sleep to be ready to get up at 4 in the morning to head to the salt flats for the sunrise. We got there just in time and the sight was absolutely breathtaking. A white nothingness to get lost in, feeling like we're in a Simulation. We enjoyed the sunrise and breakfast and afterwards did the mandatory photoshoot.
We drove through the endless salt flats and arrived in Uyuni for lunch. Uyuni itself was no place to stay but unfortunately the next bus was not leaving until 8 hours later, so we made the choice to set up our camp at the bus station, together with our Aussie friends and another Swiss guy who we stumbled into couple of times during the tour.
After enduring a third of a day of torture at the bus station (we did not think that it would be this bad sitting inbetween yelling Bolivians, trying to sell bustickets to LA PAZ LA PAZ, COCHABAMBA COCHABAMBAA or SUCRE SUCRE SUCRRRREEE) We finally got into the bus to Sucre. ,,Never in my life would I have liked to kill an elderly woman but today was definetly the day." - Declan Edwards.

  • Grand Casino Sucre

    5 de noviembre de 2023, Bolivia ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

Straight after the Uyuni tour we took the night bus to Sucre with our new travel friends. Very fast on our way to Sucre we noticed that it wasn‘t a common night bus. No it was a sauna bus. Nevertheless we made it to Sucre in the morning. In the following couple of days we were staying at a very nice hostel where we met even more nice people. Our stay in Sucre quickly turned into „Jass-Ferien“ , we were only playing cards at our „Stammtisch“, and eating very good joghurt and salchipapa from across the street. And to do some exercice we did an afternoon hike in the hills around Sucre which turned into a little adventure.Leer más

  • Jurassic Park Toro Toro

    10 de noviembre de 2023, Bolivia ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

On our way through Bolivia we thought it would be cool to visit the real life Jurassic Park. After departing from Sucre we took another night bus to Cochabamba and from there on another bus to Toro Toro national park. I‘m telling you Toro Toro is a lost paradise! We did three different tours in this paradise. On our first day we did a hike in the mountains with stunning views over valleys and mountains. On our second day we did a full day hike through a canyon which seemed to be forgotten about. To our fortune we came across a place where we had a load of fun while cliff diving. In the evening we were challanged to play soccer against a team of guides from Toro Toro. Unfortunately we have lost the game but nevertheless it was very exciting to play soccer in Bolivia. On our last day we did a tour through a huge cave system where we had to squeeze through narrow hallways in the dark. Befor returning to Cochabamba we came across some ancient dinosaur foot prints which were very common in Toro Toro. PS: Mathieu a fellow Swissy serves very good Rösti and Raclett in Toro Toro (just in case you end up in Toro Toro and you‘re missing the swiss food)Leer más
