Huacachina

📍Huacachina, Peru

Oh. My. God. One of the most exhilarating and terrifying experiences of my life. Dune buggying was absolutely off-the-scale mental. We whipped up and down the humongous sand formations on the whim of our driver Ramiros, feeling like we would tip at any minute, and then the next, we were literally flying off the ground. We had real-life tears in the front of the buggy from someone who was so scared... I was involuntarily screaming my head off, and then Adam, who is clearly now an adrenaline junkie, just laughed 😅 To top it all off, we had an amazing sunset, which I loved, although I did need an hour on the bus back just to sit so I didn't feel like I was going to be sick. But it was seriously incredible stuff and one of our fave things so far!

Huacachina is a little oasis in the desert about 5 hours from Lima which is known for its dunes and partying (not for us though, we've aged 10 years and have a strict 9pm bedtime now). We only stayed one night, thinking it might be gimmicky, but that's all it took for it to blow our heads off. Well worth the stop!

We've finished with our bus company Peru Hop now, and we have today to explore the capital before we head to Colombia tomorrow. We've been ravaged by sand flies, and we're entering mosquito haven soon again, so wish us luck!Leggi altro
