"Hot, humid, and happening." Señor Watt's description of Cartagena, and he's not wrong! We're well and truly into the tropics now, and the heat hit us like a wall off the plane. After saying for weeks that I love hot weather, I lost my battle to the humidity and fell asleep for 3 hours in the room this afternoon. Rookie error.

When not napping, we've been exploring the town and all its colourful streets. There's music and aircon pumping out everywhere, street vendors on every corner (we risked it for a biscuit with a few market juices today, yum) and a real Carribean feel around, which feels so different to the rest of South America. It's the kind of place that makes you want to stay out a bit later and push the 6pm curfew we seem to have self-imposed when travelling. It's everything I hoped it would be and more after wanting to come here for so long!

We've got one more day here to wander round, then we're going up to Tayrona National Park to dust off the swimming cossie.Read more
