    The flight to Seattle was short--"neanche un servizio di bevanda". I finally was able to do a bathroom stop, then find a place to grab some breakfast.

    The Africa Grill is not my favorite place at SeaTac, and I found out it was pricier than the Sky Lounge. Oh well...

    Country Inn -- Port Canaveral

    Our trip to the hotel took about an hour. Our Lyft driver, Robert, was a former pilot. He was talkative but interesting. The drive went by fast.

    We checked into our room and let our suitcases explode on our beds. I was exhausted, so Heather worked on finding a place for dinner. She has been here before so she recognized the restaurant they ate at before.
    We walked to Zarella's which was a pizza and pasta place. It was very loud, with a lot of families. Our server, Lila, was adorable. She called us "angels" and "babies" when she asked how we were doing. I had a delicious seafood misto pasta, and Heather had chicken marsalla.

    Twinsies!

    Heather woke up at 7ish and I was right after her. I didn't get out of bed before I ordered a coffee from Heather!

    We went to breakfast and it was a zoo. My sister actually called it a "cluster four" (I cleaned it up since I don't talk that way 🙃). The food was okay, but the layout of the food area was not conducive to a good flow.

    Back in the room we organized our suitcases. We had to decide what to carry with us and what to check. Both of us had to expand the sides. Heather's zipper was stuck, and we couldn't fix it.

    We packed up just in time to catch the shuttle to the port. We actually left early, since everyone was there. The boarding process was long. Step 1--drop off luggage. Step#2 -- Walk to terminal. Step 3-- stand against the wall and put bags on the ground to let drug sniffing dogs inspect. Step 4--Wait in line for check in. Step 5 -- Go through security. Step 6--Board ship.

    After we boarded the ship, we headed straight to the muster station to learn how to put on a life jacket. Then we hiked up the stairs to the 9th deck (Lido) for lunch. It was crowded, but we found a table with a window. I got my lunches first from the buffet, and then Heather went for hers. It was good!

    We went to explore the ship and stopped on deck 10 to relax in a deck chair. A little before 1pm, there was an announcement that cabins were ready. We found our cabin -- no luggage yet - and organized our stuff. After that, we walked around, starting on our deck (#7) and working our way up. On deck 11, we found a shuffleboard court and played a game. Heather won. It was starting to rain, but we.made.it to deck 14. Then we went to deck #3 and worked our way up to 7.     Sail away

    While Heather was napping, I sat at the bar on the aft Lido deck. We sailed out at 3:30, but it took about 30 minutes to get out of port.

    At 4 p.m., I went to the Alchemy Bar. Right about then ,Heather messaged me to let me know that she was getting coffee. It was right by me and she joined me. I had talked to the bartender about a mocktail for Heather. Seltzer with cucumber and mint. I went back to the cabin to change for dinner, while Heather went to the Serenity area.

    At 8ish, we made our way to the Silver Olympian dining room for dinner. Our table, #305, was by the window. It was a table for 8, but we were the only ones there at first. Another couple joined us eventually. Dinner was delicious. We both had the steak for our entree. I also had shrimp cocktail, salmon bites, and a cheese plate. I celebrated the great meal by dancing with the crew!

    We walked by the piano bar and decided to go in. It was fun singing along! Heather called it a night and hung out for a bit, then went to the nightclub with new friends. I tried to dance, but my legs were not cooperating. So it was time for bed!    Read more

    Nassau

    We woke up around 7 am. Heather went out first for coffee and journaling. I was out about 15 minutes later and filled up a mug before heading to aft 10.

    After journaling, I went to look for Heather. It turned out she was right below me! She had just finished her breakfast and was heading to the cabin to "check Facebook." I walked around, trying to find a line for breakfast that wasn't a mile long and ended up at the Cantina for breakfast tacos. I walked up to deck 10 and enjoyed my tacos while we arrived in Nassau.

    We docked next to the Disney Magic and it was fun watching people wave at each other from both ships.

    I went back to the cabin at 10, and we got ready for our tour. Beforehand, we grabbed coffee on deck 5.    Read more

    Walking tour with family

    We met our guide, Zhivago, on the pier at 10:45am. At 11am, on the dot, we walked toward town. We had headsets, which made it easier to hear him. He said he was our conscience. 😀. We walked across the new port, which had its grand opening yesterday. Very new! There was a marching band playing--all in very fancy uniforms. From there, Zhivago pointed out a water tower on a hill and told us that is where we were going. It looked far, but he assured us it wasn't. (Sounds familiar...) We walked through the shopping area and he pointed out statues and buildings. The colors of the buildings mean something. I remember that green is law enforcement. He talked about governors and Queen Victoria. She freed all the slaves in 1823 and is revered.

    As we neared the water tower, we entered a cavern-like walkway. It was dug out by slaves in the 1700s and took 6 years to complete. At the end was the Queen's Staircase. It has 66 stairs, which was how long the thought Victoria would rule. But she only made it to 64 years. We climbed the stairs, which wasn't too bad. At the top was a fort and the shopping area. Heather and I sat in a shady area for the 15 minutes of shopping time.

    From there, it was all downhill. We stopped to talk about the indigenous people, the Arawaks and Caribs. After Columbus, they all either died or became slaves. He kept saying, "left is right and right is suicide." Mostly because they drive on the other side, therefore tourist's need to be careful!

    He left us at the entrance to the port. We walked down a few streets, and I found a Starbucks and bought a mug. We debated having lunch in town, but the food is already paid for on the ship, plus it looked like rain. It started sprinkling just as we got to the ship!

    Afternoon on board

    We got back to the ship and took the elevator back to our cabin. We'd walked enough already! After dumping or bags, I changed into a suit and cover up, and we headed to lunch. The buffet was not crowded, so I did the Mongolian grill. Plus, buffet food. Shrimp and grits--yum! After lunch, Heather went for her nap and I hit deck 10. It started raining after about a half hour, so I went to the 9th deck pool, which is covered. It was crowded and loud!

    It stopped raining at 4pm, and I went back upstairs. Heather showed up right after her nap. It was getting hot, so we went to the room to relax.    Read more

    Fancy night

    Heather got ready before her 7pm hair appointment, and I relaxed. After she left at 6:30, I took a shower and got dressed.

    I headed to the atrium bar, where we agreed to meet. Some people were really dressed to the nines, others not at all. Some just a little bit. She met me around 8pm and we went to dinner.

    Our table was almost full this night. The couple from the night before was there, then two more ladies showed up. They are nurses from Georgia. Very fun conversation.

    We hit the piano bar and ended up staying there the rest of the evening. At first, we were in the sofas in the back, but after a group of people left, we moved to the bar. At one point, someone grabbed a mic and started singing. She was okay, but her friend was awesome! I don't remember the song, but their friends started singing back up and it was great! Proud Mary had everyone on their feet.

    Ship day - Princess Cay

    May 28, 2023, North Atlantic Ocean ⋅ 🌙 81 °F

    We decided to stay on board, instead of going to Eltheria (?), before we even sailed. It was a good choice since the ship really calmed down in the middle of the day.

    I originally went up to my spot on aft 10, but there weren't any seats in the sun. So then I went to mid 10 and found a spot. It was humid and hot!

    I went downstairs for a drink and it started to rain. I had to go and grab my stuff. Just as I ordered a drink, I realized my coffee cup was still upstairs.

    Heather joined me while I was at the Red Frog bar and she got me a piña colada. I kept saying, "you want a piña colada." It took her awhile to figure it out! We decided to go to the Serenity deck. It started raining as Heather went up first. I was finishing up a conversation and had to find her. We hung out in a couch-pod for a bit. When the sun came out we went into the hot tub with 2 ladies from Tennessee. They were interesting, but nice to chat with. Very "red state."

    After that we went to the buffet for lunch. Heather had a massage at 12:45pm, so I went back to the room and took a nap for 45 minutes. Then I went to the lobby bar for Trivia.

    I was coming down the stairs as the were doing the answers for the disco song trivia. They were trying to get someone to do the "Hustle." I got to the floor and showed them! I did a fact or fiction, movie quote, and movie music trivia. Did okay on the 1st 2, but didn't know many of the music ones. It was fun.

    I moved to the 5th deck lounge area to journal. Heather joined me after her post-massage nap. From there, we moved to the Alchemy Bar for happy hour.

    Dinner was quiet. None of our table mates showed up. I had the salmon, which was good. We headed to the piano bar--again! It was way mellower, but still fun. After Heather went to bed, a guy came in and was singing all these 50s songs. He wasn't a great singer but he was all heart. We closed down the bar and Laura (piano bar groupie), Mike (piano player), Clinton (singing guy), and I hung out for a little bit. Then Clinton and went to the Casino bar for one more. He wanted to try my negroni, and I let him. He did not like it!
