Red Goshawks building new nest on west-east section of Lilyvale Road, near old nest site. Female preening well in view, undisturbed by our presence. Told Lama Lama and QPWS rangers.
Another likely looking nest - Buzzard? - approx 4km down the northern section of Lilyvale Rd.
Camped at campsite 1 (Dugong) in the campground operated by Lama Lama (Yintjingga) rangers. Direct beach front on Princess Charlotte Bay. Enormous vista. No one else around. Beach Stone-curlew on beach in front of us, 4 Eastern Curlew, 6 Whimbrel, plus assorted waterbirds, terns. Definitely a wintering ground for Numenius...!

Fawn-breasted bowerbird bower and owner located at Portland Roads just inland from mangrove margin. Bower complete, presumably in baseline maintenance pending breeding season.Baca lagi
PengembaraPeta found a bower at butterfly falls with a treasure trove of white snail shells. She sat and waited and watched a male bird throwing his treasures up in the air to impress a female examining the bower. She has a video of it.
PengembaraThat is awesome, Jo! So cool. I saw the bower on one of your posts - that is a Great bowerbird (likes pink, red, white type things!).
Camped the night on return trip south of Coen on the Port Stewart road, in the Stewart River bed.
Bird notes:
Heard all 3 frogmouths: Marbled, Papuan, and Tawny
PengembaraOtis looks like the happiest dog on earth!!! LOL. Seems like you had a great trip.
PengembaraYou are making good time. More photos please
