Inle Lake, Myanmar

One of the more touristy spots in the country, along with Bagan, but for good reason. The lake is gorgeous, the fishermen paddle with their feet and still use traditional style nets to bring in their catches, and the stilted bamboo communities over the water host lively and eccentric locals who are thrilled about the blooming tourist industry (Myanmar only opened to tourists in 2011). Luckily, I fell in with a group of Frenchmen, a Belgian, and a Mainian, who kept everything entertaining and poignantly sarcastic. A few days around the lake and on the water (and at a hillside winery) was a great way to wrap up my month in Myanmar.
