Cappadocia: Balloons over Göreme

Its now almost no distance into Göreme which is the epicenter of tourism in Cappadocia. Its wonderfully placed in the centre of tons of rocks, cave houses and carved out churches. Sadly it continues to develop and spread very fast and is at risk of spoiling itself.

We find a campsite with a wonderful view above the town. Then set off for a little exploration, by chance finding a dramatic little valley just the other side of town which, after some effort to descend the steep surrounding cliffs, we get to explore in peace.

On our last morning at the campsite we wake at sunrise to the noise of an air balloon. Its extraordinarily close to our tent. And when we look over the valley it is filled with almost 100 balloons, each lightening up from time to time. Don’t miss out on the video!Baca selengkapnya
