    We manage an early start to help with the heat of the day: today we are headed for Göreme which is the mega-centre of Cappadocia. As we get closer there are small patches of Cappadocian geology and then suddenly we have a magnificent view over a whole plain crammed with bizare and incredible mounds, cliffs and towers. The downside to this is that we are also now sharing it with zillions of bus loads of selfie-shooting tourists… and a few adorable camels 🐫 amongst all the tourist trappings. Alice is still negotiating with Alain over whether we could have a pair.

    Atop the horizon is a spectacular castle. And like everything else around here it has been carved out rather than built.
