Germany 2010

Throwback to my first Europe trip when I was 27! Flew direct because why not? ( BKK - DUS, TXL - BKK). It was an amazing work trip with my boss and the team. The perfect way to visit Europe for the first time. ✈️🇩🇪 Leggi altro

Touchdown in Düsseldorf! 🇩🇪 (BKK > Düsseldorf)

    14 giugno 2010, Germania ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

By the time we left the airport, it was already early evening. We got picked up by a driver to head all the way to Duckwitz. Honestly, I forget how many hours it took but the drive felt like forever! Luckily, we arrived safely. 🚐

My Route: Bangkok > Düsseldorf > Duckwitz > Mecklenburg region (Rostock, Stralsund) > Hamburg > Berlin > Bangkok

  • Duckwitz

    15–20 giu 2010, Germania ⋅ ☁️ 14 °C

Even though we visited many cities, Duckwitz was our home base every night. Breakfast at our place was a classic German spread. Very simple and easy! I am not super familiar with eating raw ham or cured meats, but I completely fell in love with their table setup and the cozy morning atmosphere. A truly simple but special breakfast experience to start my day in Germany!

It was intense with seminars at the host's banquet hall. The accommodation was right next to their office and used to be an old Schloss! My room even had a horse stable right below it. Such a special vibe. We had an evening reception and a light dinner. I was totally amazed by a professor who cycled 20 to 30 km to join us wearing a full suit! Work aside, as a flower lover, I could not stop taking photos of the beautiful surroundings. Everything was just so cute! 🌸

The meeting the German team to exchange tech knowledge in our field. Lunch was a simple but super delicious pizza. Dinner was a massive steak, way bigger than portions in Thailand! I also had to try German beer. I am not really a drinker, but when in Germany, right? Their regular glass is a whole 1 liter! It was absolutely huge and I am definitely not used to it hahaha. 🍻

    16 giugno 2010, Germania ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

An early morning start to visit a Marine Turbine factory! The road trip view was simply stunning with green grass, clear blue spring skies, and beautiful windmills. Lunch at the factory cafeteria was a wonderful surprise. We had a delicious local fish steak, but the dessert stole the show! It was a lovely custard cream with a touch of vanilla or mild liquor. A perfectly simple, special, and homey meal! Sadly, my old phone camera had such low memory and poor performance, so I did not get many shots. But everything remains perfectly clear in my memory. 🐟

Our afternoon was spent visiting a waste to energy plant. We joined a great presentation, and I absolutely loved how they ended it by knocking on the tables instead of clapping. So cool! We then took a tour of the production engine room. The whole thing was such a highly valuable and honorable experience for me. 🏭✨

  • Rostock 1

    17 giugno 2010, Germania ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

One relaxing day in Rostock! Walked by the University of Rostock, got some hot coffee, and enjoyed the park in the perfect weather. We also had a great time shopping around the lively tourist area. Later, we visited a cool waterfront spot. I cannot remember the exact name since it was ages ago, but it had a great pier vibe. The most mind blowing part for an Asian like me? Seeing the sun still shining brightly at 9 PM! It was totally wow! We finished the day with the famous "Schweinshaxe" pork knuckle, though our restaurant choice was just average."Leggi altro

This time in Warnemünde! In the evening, the team took us out for Mexican food. It was my very first time trying it! The vibe in the restaurant was so fun and lively, and the male staff took such great care of us. I ordered my favorite drink, a Mojito, and oh my goodness, the portion was absolutely massive! It was a total culture shock for me hahaha, but definitely another cool new experience. Later, I stepped outside just for a quick moment to see the Baltic Sea beach. The wind was incredibly strong and it was freezing cold! I was shivering so much hahaha. 🌊🍹🌮Leggi altro

  • Berlin

    20 giugno 2010, Germania ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

Today was the day to pack up and head back to Thailand. We only had about half a day for a super quick sightseeing tour around Berlin. It was incredibly rushed! But I instantly fell in love with the vibe. Even with just a short glimpse, the city felt so alive. We took a taxi past an area filled with beautiful museums, and I knew right then that I wanted to return.

If I ever get the chance, I want to go on a boat ride and have a summer picnic in a Berlin park. This city is truly my love at first sight. I cannot even explain it, but I know I have to come back here at least once in my lifetime to make my heart full.

Well, all good things must come to an end. We headed to the airport, which was still called Berlin Tegel back then, to catch our flight back to Thailand. I hope we meet again, Germany! 🇩🇪✈️💖
