Walking towards Léon was for the most part parallel to the highway however we enjoyed the flat path and warm sunny day. A small city with a population of around 200,000 it was easy to find our way around and most places of interest were close to where we were staying. We boarded a small electric train and were happy to be taken on a sightseeing tour around the city.
The Gothic Cathedral (Santa Maria) built in the 13th century with its magnificent medieval stained glass windows the Casa De Botines (a building facing 4 streets) and the work of architect Gaudi.
We stepped back in time and into a pharmacy which opened in 1827 still operating and maintains the original ceiling and furniture. We weighed ourselves on giant antique scales (my lips are sealed) and walked out rather pleased with ourselves.
