The Tub is a large crater in the cliff, with a tunnel connecting it to the sea. It is 10 to 30 meters deep and 50 meters across, with a granite base.
The cave's original entrance is still covered, and the collapsed ceiling has formed a rough bowl, 60 to 70 feet deep.

The monument was erected to honour Sister D. B. Millard, who drowned on the 14th of June, 1928, when a section of the cliff face collapsed.
