    During the winter, there would be snow on the ground here.
    Summertime, when we visited, we were thrilled to see a mob of brumbies. There are some really amazing colours in this mob!
    A brumby is a free-roaming feral horse in Australia.

    Although found in many areas around the country, the best-known brumbies are found in the Australian Alps region.
    Wild horses first appeared in Australia soon after colonisation, as horses escaped or were abandoned.

    According to historian Eric Rolls, brumbies may have originally gotten their name from the horses that Private James Brumby abandoned in 1804 when he was transferred from New South Wales to Tasmania, or it is a rough translation of an Aboriginal word, baroomby, meaning "wild".
