Local cruisers have validated that our “get to a marina before lunch” is the best option for a trailer boat with our NO_GO criteria on the Great Lakes. To date the DNR marinas have been clean and well managed, although not luxurious for under $1.50/ft. The heat wave is finally over, and it was 50 degrees this morning! We turned on the heat and wore sweaters. The Cheboygan July 4 parade was a hoot. It looked like every fire truck from all surrounding cities and counties attended, with full sirens and horns blasting. Eileen (a Philly girl) said it was the only parade she has ever attended that had so many fire trucks, farm tractors, a dump truck and a guy on a unicycle.

After it warmed up in the afternoon to 76 degrees with a stiff breeze, the coarse sand beach park filled up with adults and kids joyfully swimming in the 63 degree water. We still had our sweaters on. We planned four nights here.Read more
