Day 43: Change of plans and breakdown

Yesterday evening we decided to change the plans for the comming days. Today we left the Carratera Austral and got in one of the side roads to a small port town to try to get a ferry. it was the first time we set a deadline for ourselfs. 75 km in one day on the ripio. As soon as we tried to leave Nino had a flat tire. The replacement tire that he used wasn't patched properly. So almost a hour later than planned we left. Just 2 km out of town my shoe cleat came loose making it impossible to get my shoe from my pedal. 5 km later i lost a part from the fuel bottle. Forcing me to caring it on top. And finally afyer 10 km my rear rack came loose. One of the bolts just broke. Leaving halve the bolt in my frame making it impossible to replace. Half an hour of emergency repairs made the bike ridable again. having spend half the day repairing the bike we set of to the town. we made up lost time by racing the ripio. And made it to the town with an average of 15 kmh. wich is really fast on the ripio. The tickets for the ferry where sold out. but we are gonna try to make it on the ferry tomorow anyway.Baca lagi
