  • Abandoned Water Park

    4 giugno 2016, Vietnam ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

Literally exactly what it sounds like. I felt like I was wondering through Jurassic park for a little bit with old, rusty installments, overgrown bushes and trees everywhere, a sense of sudden and dramatic abandonment, now left to locals to make a quick buck charging tourists (us) to come and have a look.Leggi altro

  • Bangkok, Thailand

    12 giugno 2016, Tailandia ⋅ ☀️ 34 °C

Bangkok round 2, what can I say, it's Bangkok. Josh had never been before and so we stayed here for 3 nights a few roads away from Khao San. Towers, long island's, neon lights, bug snacks and people getting lickoff! Went wandering during the days when Josh was feeling well (dodgy tummy!) and met up with some of our Chiang Mai rooftop crew for the last night.Leggi altro

  • Koh Samui, Thailand

    16 giugno 2016, Tailandia ⋅ ☀️ 33 °C

So Koh Samui was meant to be a rendezvous point to meet Allan who was flying from England. I expected an island kind of like Koh Rong Samloem or Koh Ta Kiev, maybe a bit naive but I hadn't had any other experiences with islands. What I found instead was a strip that could have been anywhere in Bangkok minus the beach and the lack of cheap street food.

The second night of our time there I was lying in bed, very peaceful, half asleep, watching something on Netflix and a lump jumps on me. I turn around expecting Josh (wouldn't be the first time) and its Alex, one of my best mates from home, and his girlfriend! I couldn't believe it! I was a shell shocked, could only manage a high pitched "WTF" at a frequency that only dogs could hear. Well needless to say me, Jack, Alex and Sofia all went out for the evening which started at 11.30pm and didn't finish until 7.30am including buckets, me getting hustled by a 10 year old girl at a thumb war, sneaking into a hotel jacuzzi, Alex splitting his lip, going back to their airbnb halfway around the island, getting in another pool, finishing a bottle of whisky and finally sleep.

The day after Allan arrives....dear lord. We pick Allan up from the airport and all head back to the airbnb which were staying at, there's 8 of us packed into this little apartment and the drinks inevitably start flowing again with games, Reek's (tucking willies behind legs) and being thrown about the pool which ended up in a naked shower I'm glad not to have been a part of as it consisted of just Allan and Alex. Finally sleep again, not before a drunken pillow fight, to head to Koh Pha Ngan in preparation for the full moon party.

  • Koh Pha Nang, Thailand

    19 giugno 2016, Tailandia ⋅ ☀️ 32 °C

So we came to Koh Pha Ngan for the full moon party, legendary around the world as one of the best parties. We had met a few people in our travels that were going to be here as well and so had arranged to meet up with on the night. We got beers, whiskey, rum and a bbq to get ourselves going and maybe hit it a little too hard for pres in hindsight.

Finishing the alcohol, we were pumped and went to meet up with some of the castaway crew where we had more buckets and got UV painted up! The party itself is on Hadrin beach and is a load of bars along a stretch in front of the water, once we found a bar with music we liked we danced, laughed and drank. It was great. Then all the alcohol started hitting about an hour or two after being there, Sofia had to take Alex home (with mine and Allan's money in his money pouch), Yael had left and Chris fell asleep on the beach - during the full moon party, people, music all around him, just fell asleep! And so Josh stayed to look after him and then went back. That left me, Jack and Allan. Allan was wandering as per and one time never came back and so Jack and I were left in the sea. I went to get another bucket for us and that was it, I couldn't find him again. So I carried on partying until I wanted to leave and hitched a ride back as I had no money. Turns out Jack ended up at another of our friends hostels because his money had floated away in the sea and couldn't get home and Allan had belly slid across the gravel as he was jogging home as he had no money either and was taken in by a sympathetic couple to stay at their place the night to which his response as he passed out was "please don't rape me". Even with all, it was still a banging night but I don't feel as though it lived to the expectation of one of the greatest parties in the world, when we went back to Hadrin beach 2 nights after when it wasn't as busy but still exactly the same setup I had a better night, riddle me that?

  • Krabi, Thailand

    22 giugno 2016, Tailandia ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

We arrived in Krabi and were ready for a chilled night so we hit the night market up, had some incredible spicy, bbq'd, peanut sauce, chicken melange and fried ice cream, cream with whatever you wanted mixed in frozen on a cold plate in front of my eyes. Was delicious!!

Whilst in Krabi we climbed to the top of Wat Tham Suea or "Tiger Cave Temple" which has 1,237 steps to reach the summit...I was sick at the top. The panoramic views from the top were stunning, once I'd recovered enough to enjoy them, and after we took a drive to the "nearby" hot springs to soak our muscles.

  • Independence Day, Ambarita

    17 agosto 2016, Indonesia ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

Indonesian Independence Day from the Netherlands in 1945. Music, life and laughter. As i walk in I saw 4 men attempting to reach the top of a greased palm tree, attempting being the key word. All around children are dancing in their school classes along with the adults who are doing traditional batik dances. The atmosphere us one of joy and as everyone from tuk tuk is here that's a lot of happy people! After a bit of lunch I head back in to see the kids are giving the tree a go and after much deliberation one reaches the top triumphantly, waves the flag and starts throwing down the goodies.Leggi altro

  • Gapang Beach, Pulua Weh

    21 agosto 2016, Indonesia ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Quick diving excursion led to 3 nights on Pulau Weh. I stayed on Gapang beach in a room for 50000 idr with a mattress and fan...what else do I need?! Diving with monster divers was awesome!!Saw loads of cool fish, gained more experience and had some high calibre conversation with the future German Chancellor! A beatiful island with lots to explore both off and on shore that I didn't get too see, a return trip is definitely in the books 😁Leggi altro

  • Banda Aceh, Indonesia

    24 agosto 2016, Indonesia ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

One night stopover on my way to meet up with the ol' ball and chain! Joking, can't wait to see her! Applied for my visa extension which was actually relatively painless and my hostel owner really helped me out I'm a lot (recommend the Wisma Tsacita to anyone staying in BA) so a productive day 👍 the city itself seems in an evolution stage which has aspects of a "modern" city but also retains some of what I'd expected to see (like in Medan) although I didn't see lots of the city as it was pouring with rain and most of what I saw was from sidecar of a motorbike. The contrast of buildings is likely due to the massive rebuilding that took place after the tsunami, as awful as that kind of destruction is, it gives a humans a platform on which to build again, which doesn't have to be the same as what came before...Leggi altro
