I recall that there is this neat vegur-app / web page listing all Icelandic roads and their current state - did it not mark those roads as closed? Or did you not trust the warnings 😁 and rather wanted to see for yourself?

This road closure was actually not marked in red in safetravel.is - which otherwise is a great resource! No idea why they didn't mark this one as impassable...?!
