  • Logging Museum Trail

    June 5, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Before heading to our campsite we did the Logging Museum trail. It was SUPER buggy so we mostly power walked it to escape the bugs. The estimate is that it will take you around an hour and we did it in just 29 minutes.
I did this trail many times as a kid with my family but there has been many additions to the trail since.

  • Lake of Two Rivers Campground

    June 5, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Our home for the next few days! We’re right on the river on the edge of the campground. We had nobody around us when a first set up but we now have another young couple beside us and another a few sites over. Our dinner plans of pie irons was foiled when we couldn’t buy wood until tomorrow. So we just switched things up to have sausages for dinner tonight.Read more

  • Hardwood Lookout

    June 6, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

We wanted to start the day off with the Whisky Rapids trail but when we got there it was closed due to flooding. It wasn’t a waste driving there though because when we were about to pull back out onto the highway a moose ran across the road.
We then headed to our next trail, Hardwood Lookout. Another short 30 minute hike. The lookout was a little disappointing with how overgrown it is in front blocking your view but it was a nice hike.

  • Peck Lake Trail

    June 6, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

Having some time left before we needed to head back to the camp site we did the Peck Lake Trail. Our longest trail yet, taking almost an hour. It was a little muddy but there was always a small trail to get around the mud. It was really pretty. We sat on a rock just relaxing looking at the lake for quite a while. Enjoying the fact that we had nothing to do.Read more

  • Killarney Lodge Anniversary Dinner

    June 6, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

After a day and a half of camping I think we cleaned up pretty nice for our anniversary dinner at Killarney Lodge. We weren’t entirely sure what to expect because we had never been there before but it was fantastic! We both had cream of mushroom soup, prime rib and chocolate sundaes. Going for a fancy meal well camping is definitely not something we’d normally think to do but my parents set it up for us for our anniversary and it was a really nice treat. Thank you mom and dad!Read more

  • Big Pines Trail

    June 7, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

Started the day off with the Big Pines Trail. I don’t think I’ve done this trail since I was young. It was kind of sad seeing how many had fallen likely due to all the wind storms. There was one that the guide book talked about that had clearly just recently fallen. There were some still standing though.Read more

  • Old Railway Bike Trail

    June 7, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

The bike ride that almost killed me. It has been a long time since I’ve ridden my bike and this bike trail is ROUGH. Very hilly and it’s mostly gravel with big rocks mixed in. I will be very sore tomorrow! To celebrate the fact that I made it back we stopped and got Kawartha Dairy ice cream at the campgrounds store.Read more
