  • Eagle’s Nest Lookout

    July 20, 2024 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Had a stretch our legs break at Eagle’s Nest Lookout. Jackson and I had never been here before.
“The cliff was named the Eagle’s Nest by Bancroft’s early citizens, due to the fact that there was a nest belonging to a pair of Eagles in one of the pine trees near the edge. The Eagles departed long ago, but the name remains.”Read more

  • Lookout Trail

    July 20, 2024 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

We always did the lookout trail when we visited Algonquin Park when I was a kid and always took a family picture at stop 5. It’s a much smaller family photo this time but we had to keep the tradition going!Read more

  • Huntsville

    July 20, 2024 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

We went to Huntsville to spend the night. We were surprised to learn at our motel that tonight was the Nuit Blanche North, with 30 different activities and performances by over 100 local and visiting artists. We were so tired that we didn’t stay too long. It was just starting when we finished dinner and not many of the performers had started yet. We got to see a few interesting things like Techno Line Dancing and some costumed performers.Read more

  • Buck Lake Trail

    July 21, 2024 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

We found a park we had never heard of before called Limberlost Park. It said online that the trails were free to use so we decided to give it a try for our second day adventures. The park is so nice! We were all commenting the whole time about the amount of work that has gone into it and how well maintained it is. The next time we have time to go camping I think I know where we will be staying.
The only trail we had time for was Buck Lake Trail that circled the lake. It was really nice and pretty. There was even a rest cabin along the trail that was really neat inside. The only time it got quite rough and muddy was when we had two paths to choose from, a shortcut or detour. We chose the shortcut but maybe should have chosen the detour.

  • Canoe Lake

    July 21, 2024 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

Drove back to Algonquin park to go canoeing on canoe lake. We wished we had stayed at Limberlost Forest for canoeing because it was cheaper, quieter and would have been a lot less driving but it was a lot of fun. My parents and Jackson all say canoeing was their favourite part of the weekend.
It was Jackson’s first time canoeing and I’m not exactly experienced either so there were some circles when we first started. We didn’t exactly go in a very straight line either but we at least covered most of the lake with our interesting zig-zag path and neither of us got wet.
