    Rockhampton Botanic Gardens is one of the oldest and most established public gardens in Queensland and has been heritage listed. It was built from 1873 to 1930s, the kiosk was erected in 1911 and was added to the Queensland Heritage Register 1999. Today, the gardens retain their historical significance with a number of iconic plantings, including the 150 year-old canopy of Banyan figs and an avenue of Bunya pines. The gardens are a popular recreational feature for the people of the district as well to be enjoyed by tourists.
