    June 7, 2021 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

Rockhampton, affectionately known as Rocky or Rockvagus ! is one of the oldest cities in Queensland and is nestled on the Tropic of Capricorn. Situated 600ks north of Brisbane, on the mighty Fitzroy River with a population of 80,000. The name Rockhampton was derived from a combination of two sources-" Rock" from the rock barrier which then blocked river navigation and Hampton, "a small village". It is bursting with history, a vibrant Riverbank Precinct, arts and entertainment scene. Differing dining options, streets lined with green lush trees and gardens, all under the picturesque backdrop of Mount Archer. The city has heritage listed Botanical Gardens, is the birth place of tennis great, Rod Laver, is Australia's beef capital and in 1986 is where Angela spent a year working at the Rockhampton Public Hospital-now totally rebuilt with basically nothing left from Angela's time there.Read more
