    Arrival to Pemberton

    August 10, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

My daughter arranged for us to stay with her last night so that we could convoy to Pemberton together.
Following family tradition, we ate breakfast together at Tribute Street Cafe before setting off.
The convoy had the first stop at Harper's cafe in Harvey, renown for almond croissant. Sadly, they only have it on the weekends. So we had to head to our next stop in Manjimup, to have lunch at Hound and Hunter. It is truffle season now so the menu was very truffle and exquisite. We have truffle terrine, truffle pate, truffle camembert, truffle cheesy toast, even finishing the meal with truffle icecream.
Our first day of the family holiday is turning out to be a very gastronomic one. Good breakfast, exquisite lunch and finally to to it all with a delicious dinner at Jasper's. Now with our tummys full with food and drink, we have all retired to bed at the Karri Valley Hideaway. This 2 bedroom accommodation is beautifully nestled in the Karri forest..

  • Bibbilmun hike from Stirling Rd to Beeda

    August 11, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

We started the morning with a very hearty breakfast of girdle scones, blood sausage, bacon, eggs and sausages. This is sustenance for our 14km hike on the Bibbilmun from Stirling Rd to Beedalup Falls and for the kids to do their mountain biking.
We dropped our car off at Beedalup Falls carpark then the kids dropped us where Stirling Rd intersected the Bibbilmun, the start of our walk.
The hike was very interesting, with wild orchids, emus running across our trek, kangaroos, much birdlife and even 3 humans.
But the highlight was the tall majestic Karri trees.

  • Bibbilmun Seven Day Rd to Karri Valley

    August 12, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

Another hearty breakfast start to our morning with pancakes, berries and syrup. Then we were dropped off to Seven Day Rd to begin today's hike. Unbeknownst to us, Google took us on a scenic drive via Carey Road, which is a gravel road that is flanked on both sides by Karri forest to the drop off. Stunning drive.
We spent the first hour of the walk hunting wild orchids and were rewarded with a bumper crop of them. If we kept up this speed, we would not have finished to night fall. We sped up and the walk was beautiful except at about the 6km mark, the trek was diverted because of damage to a bridge so we had to walk along Carey Road. There were still wild orchids to be found there. All in all a beautiful hike of 12 km.

  • Nannup

    August 13, 2023 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 10 °C

Packing up and heading home today. Visited Nannup on the way home as there was a garden and flower festival there. There were so many stalls of craft, plants and knick knack stalls dotted all over the town.
Lunch was a yummy pie on a park bench from the bakery. Then homeward bound.
