    Kaikoura

    November 16, 2019, South Pacific Ocean ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

We had an early start. The reason: whale watching 🐳 yay!! Since babies‘ were not allowed we split up. Matilda and I went this morning and Thomas will be on tomorrow‘s early morning tour.

Unfortunately poor Matilda got seasick. But brave little girl managed to wait and finally see a whale (in fact we saw 2 😊). To be precise it‘s a male sperm whale and the other one‘s a humpback whale. Also a couple of albatrosses crossed our way and a seal decided to put up a show while we waited for the humpback whale to turn up again.

In the afternoon we explored the Kaikoura peninsula. Drove as far as possible. Parked the motorhome and started climbing over the rocks the low tide revealed. The peninsula‘s home to seal colonies and to shore birds. On the way back the official peninsula coastal track offered a stunning view.
