    Sunny days and cafes

    7 novembre 2024, France ⋅ ☀️ 68 °F

Today cleared up a little earlier. By 10 we had blue skies and cool weather to wander around in Bordeaux. We went back to some of the sites we had seen from the Petit train. We started with the large public garden, nice walking path, ponds full of ducks and swans, lots of dogs frolicking about.
From the garden we could see the victory statue aka Monument aux Girondins, so we headed over to it.
The Girondists were the most militant part of the legislature at the beginning of the French Revolution. However, in October 1793, the Girondists were executed under the orders of one of the leaders of the Revolution, Maximilien Robespierre after they began opposing the movement. The victory angel on the top is surrounded by fountains with mythical figures. The square it’s on is used for various activities for the city, the next one is the Christmas market starting at the end of November.
From the park we went past several of the never ending churches around. We ended up the day with visits to a couple of cave vino, or wine cellars
We may or may not have acquired some Christmas gifts there. Patience please. As Oregon Welles used to say “we will serve no wine before its time”

    Au revoir!
