Binondo-The world's oldest Chinatown

Founded in 1594 by the Spanish to keep Chinese immigrants out of Intramuros (where they wanted to live for themselves), Binondo is the world's oldest Chinatown. And as everywhere where Spaniards settled on a piece of land they were soon very busy converting whatever beliefs to Christianity...and once again they succeeded. To a frightening degree!
