Mosca Pass Trail

We decided to escape the afternoon heat on the mostly shaded/higher elevation Mosca Pass trail. It was a toll road in the late 1800s which cost about $50 in today's dollars. After lunch of veggies and hummus and cherries, we set out to the pass 3.5 miles and 1400' up. The trail was quite varied in shaded pine and aspen forest, rocky overlooks, and meadows. We took a side trail near the pass to a long abandoned log cabin where we stopped for trail mix, granola bar and mandarin. The pass was not too impressive but we saw a tiny horned lizard.
