  • Great Sand Dunes National Park

    August 29, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 54 °F

We entered the park before the visitor's center was open so headed straight to the picnic area for breakfast with a view. Then we took a barefoot hike on the sand with Duncan, turning around as soon as the sand started heating up. Then back to the visitors center which has been renovated and has a passive solar (Trombe) wall.Read more

  • Mosca Pass Trail

    August 29, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 64 °F

We decided to escape the afternoon heat on the mostly shaded/higher elevation Mosca Pass trail. It was a toll road in the late 1800s which cost about $50 in today's dollars. After lunch of veggies and hummus and cherries, we set out to the pass 3.5 miles and 1400' up. The trail was quite varied in shaded pine and aspen forest, rocky overlooks, and meadows. We took a side trail near the pass to a long abandoned log cabin where we stopped for trail mix, granola bar and mandarin. The pass was not too impressive but we saw a tiny horned lizard. The nature trail side trail had a great view of the dunes.Read more

  • Full moon dunes hike

    August 29, 2023 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 59 °F

Back to the picnic area for shade and a nap. We made a vegan jambalaya for dinner and then back to the dunes for a nearly full moon hike. It was easier without the heat, but still difficult going up steep dunes in the sinking sand. The wind occasionally blew up blasts of sand. But it was completely beautiful and the moon lit our path!Read more

    August 29, 2023 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 59 °F

We found a lovely stop just off the main road on BLM land on the way to Zapata Falls. The location was quiet enough, but we were not level and a creature was making noise all night outside/inside the bus. Totals 46 miles for Bliss Bus and 10.5 miles with 1850' elevation change.Read more

  • Camping on lower Piedra River

    September 1, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 77 °F

Found a nice spot near the river shortly before dark. Road was deeply rutted but we cautiously made our way to a level spot right off the river. Very quiet night. Total 55 miles. Enjoyed a walk in the morning and found a sweet swimming hole that Resonate jumped in and Duncan almost got swept over the little water fall before leaping to freedom. The rocks were great for picnicking and spinning dragon staff too.Read more

We visited our friend Indigo who we met treehouse building near Austin, TX and camped at RTR & Skooliepalooza in AZ together. It was great to reconnect at Indigo's apartment and get a shower before a shared Buddha bowl meal! Then Indigo walked us to riverside trees brimming with apricots. • Serenity Festival

    September 14, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 66 °F

We had an amazing Somatic Sharing workshop that started right after a hail storm! One participant said it was "next level yoga" and we are honored to bring the connection activities out to the world. It was a much smaller crowd than Unison but still an amazing time and deeper connections with friends. We spun the dragon staff next to the stages to amazing live music. We are also excited about the community building and healthy living spaces Robert, Ryan and Pura Vida for Good are creating here and one larger tracts in the area. Looking forward to returning to help build!Read more
