  • BLM Chute & Ladders Site 8

    After a lovely hour shower at the NP camp store, we found a great site in the BLM Chutes & Ladders area a few miles away. We had a view of the NP bluffs from the driveway and sunset view from the hill behind the campsite. We had BLTs for dinner and enjoyed the fire and stars. Totals 72 miles and $6.70 in gifts.Read more

  • 2 days at camp

    We had a couple of lovely days hiking from camp, yoga, dragon staff, fires and enjoying nature. A velvet ant aka cow killer quickly passed through camp. We enjoyed banana peel "bacon" BLTs, and mountain pies. ResoNate was not thrilled about the wasp that stung and then harassed him during sadhana, but he took the sign to start creating.Read more

  • Cortez, CO

    After breakfast and cleaning up camp, we spent the day in Cortez. Catching up with the world at the library. Enjoying the beautiful park next door for leftover Buddha bowls.   • Walmart overnight

    There wasn't much going on in Cortez on a Friday night, so Walmart date night it became. We don't expect to see another one for at least a month so it was a bit expensive to load up on essentials. Totals 15 miles for Bliss, about 3 miles for us and $205.68 for dining out and groceries.Read more

  • Farmers market

    Duncan became ill overnight so we spent some time cleaning up before going to the Farmers market and getting some amazing mushrooms, veggies, and plum jam for $19. We then went back to the park for breakfast.Read more

  • Moab Campout

    We found a Destination Now Here nomad group gathering on Sēkr and joined for a couple days. It was great connecting with fellow nomads and sharing unique s'mores and stories around the fire! Duncan also made several dog friends. ResoNate found a step advanced at another camp and rigged a backpack to carry it back on Zumi. Now Duncan has an elevated bed when we're traveling. We took a couple of hikes on the OHV trails around camp for good views including camp.Read more

  • Double Arch Arches NP

    We spent the day in town getting showers, doing laundry, and grocery shopping. Then headed to Arches National Park after timed entry ended at 4 pm. First stop after the visitors center was double arches hike. The clouds along the way were also quite interesting.Read more

  • Devil's Garden Arches NP

    While we missed a great location to watch the sunset/moon rise, We had amazing views hiking Devil's garden section to Pine, Tunnel, Landscape, and Partition Arch. The latter was quite an adventure rock scrambling in the moonlight. We played with night vision aspect of the photos and enjoyed the solitude on a warm night.Read more

  • Arches NP after dark

    It was absolutely beautiful! We heated up a package of Kitchari for dinner at the picnic area and let Duncan out for a bit. Then hiked to the Delicate Arches viewpoints, but couldn't see it from the upper one. Then once final stop at Park Avenue viewpoint for dinner and bed prep as we stealth camped in Moab overnight. Totals 77 miles for Bliss, about 7 for us, and $75.17.Read more

  • La Sal Mountains Camping

    We wanted to escape the heat in Moab again and we did an awesome job of it at over 8000' elevation near La Sal Mountains Overlook. We had an amazing view into Castle Valley and of the multicolored gambell oaks and aspens on the mountains. The wind was strong on Saturday but we managed a 3 mile hike. It picked up overnight, rattling the bus and humming through the muffler. It was 40 degrees F and raining as we left in the morning. Total 34 miles.Read more

  • Grandstaff Canyon

    We enjoyed breakfast at Takeout Beach and then started on the Grandstaff Canyon. Surprisingly, it was very well protected from the strong winds and we had a beautiful 4.5 mile hike before having lunch at the trailhead and heading back to Moab to resupply.Read more

  • Bears Ears NM Camping

    We had the most beautiful drive all day and found a fittingly beautiful campsite in Bears Ears National Monument only 5 miles from Needles district of Canyonlands NP. We enjoyed delicious pasta and homemade veggie and bean burgers dinners and roasted apple, peanut butter, chocolate crisp dessert. Total of $100 for fuel for us and Bliss with 105 miles on Sunday, 27 miles on Monday and 24 on Tuesday.Read more

  • Needles District Canyonlands NP

    October 2, 2023 in the United States ⋅ 🌬 63 °F

    We did the typical tourist version of the National Park, stopping at the overlooks and doing the short interpretive trails at Roadside Ruins, Cave Springs, lunch of cheesy bean veggies at the picnic area, Pothole Point and Slickrock trails. Total of 4 miles hiking and 27 miles driving.Read more

  • Chelser Park & Joint Loop Canyonlands NP

    October 3, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 57 °F

    What an amazingly beautiful day with scenery abounding in all directions! 11.2 miles total with 1050' elevation change over rocks and through cracks. ResoNate provided plenty of entertainment and encouragement as Sunshine walked through some foot and leg pains. The twisted and mangled trees that continued to thrive provided more encouragement to exhale for their growth and inhale to likewise thrive.Read more

  • Newspaper Rock

    We had a lazy morning at camp, enjoying yoga and dragon spinning before packing up. On the way back we stopped at Newspaper Rock that has been graffitied for 2000 years.
