  • Return to Nederland

    22 de agosto de 2023, Estados Unidos ⋅ 🌩️ 77 °F

Back to Nederland for cell services and lunch. We were disappointed the vegan pizza place was closed, but found shitake, lionsmane noodles and double chocolate vegan brownie at the co-op. We also confirmed our participation at Unison Festival as space holders in the sound healing tent and figures out camping options.Leia mais

  • Bathroom with a view

    23 de agosto de 2023, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 59 °F

We packed up and made tea before continuing and stopped for the bathrooms at Georgetown Lake. There's also a viewing platform with scopes for Big Horn Sheep that live in the area. A fellow visitor pointed out one on the opposite hill across the lake. It was still a bit chilly and early for breakfast so continued down the road.Leia mais

  • Breckenridge

    23 de agosto de 2023, Estados Unidos ⋅ ⛅ 64 °F

We took the free shuttle from the ice rink to downtown and ride the gondola to the top of the mountain. There was a storm approaching so we didn't bother with the activities but the alpine coaster looked like fun. Back down for some wondering downtown. Nate found new cargo shorts at the thrift store. We enjoyed DMT (di-mushroom-truffle) vegan pizza with lemon aioli base at Piante!Leia mais

  • New home with 360 degree views!

    23 de agosto de 2023, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☁️ 79 °F

We've found a beautiful view campsite in Pike San Isabel National Forest above Buena Vista, CO thanks to iOverlander! ResoNate hauled up some dead wood for the fire. We cooked up mushroom cauliflower red onion BBQ and PB blueberry on cinnamon raisin mountain pies. The only disappointment is the clouds obscured sunset. Totals 99 miles for Bliss Bus, about 3 for us and $35 for food.Leia mais

  • Day around camp

    24 de agosto de 2023, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 64 °F

What a beautiful day! A bit cloudy and breezy but no thunderstorms though an interesting sunbow peaked through. We hiked from camp on our own trail to rock overlooks and a gully with wax currants and followed the road back for 3 mile loop. Can you find Bliss Bus? We enjoyed a delicious lunner (lunch-dinner) of BBQ tempeh, rosemary roasted red potatoes, and coleslaw from our table with a view and PB, date, and blueberry mountain pies for dessert after a peak through sunset.Leia mais

  • Laundry

    25 de agosto de 2023, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☁️ 64 °F

More rain was predicted, so we packed up to do the town things. First stop laundromat and we thought we might find some missing socks here but we ended up with all matched pairs and clean clothes after $10.50 and 75 minutes. There was a sign on the bulletin board that led to our next stop.Leia mais

  • Waterfall hike and moose

    26 de agosto de 2023, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☁️ 55 °F

We woke early, enjoyed yoga and breakfast. Sunshine called around to find replacement tire. Then we made the climb up to Brown's Creek Falls from our campsite. It looked like the storms were going to hold off, so took the slightly longer wagon wheel trail back for a loop. What a misnomer on this steep rocky trail but it was along a river and less traveled. 6.7 mi total. We got back and had leftover quesadillas for lunch and took a nap inside during the rain storm. As we were cooking stirfry for dinner, a couple moose checked us out and drank up the rain water from our chair, table, and Zumi. Luckily Duncan was inside and didn't notice them. It was another rainy movie night.Leia mais

  • CO trail hike

    27 de agosto de 2023, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 55 °F

A very lovely day indeed! The skies were clear as we did yoga and hiked along the CO trail from camp (7.7 mi total - but should have skipped Raspberry Gulch which was fenced in for the ridgeline ahead). We saw some cows in the pines and again back at camp. It rained a bit in the afternoon but cleared with rainbow over the bus and allowed for a campfire meal of mushrooms onion melts and PB blueberry mountain pies.Leia mais

  • What's going on/waiting game

    28 de agosto de 2023, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 50 °F

Despite having a tire truck reserved for 9:30 am and being told that could change location after calling closer shops that didn't open, until 8 am. At 7:30, the roadside assistance called and said could just do a tire replacement. Awesome! 8:15 called back and said there was no one able to do that. So Sunshine called all the shops. After determining only the first stop called had the tire we needed, she called back at 8:40 to schedule the tow. The roadside called back stating they could change the tire but it wasn't covered by insurance and would be $180/hr labor in addition to tire cost, oh and they didn't have tire or anyone to do it yet. No thanks! 2 companies later for towing and determine that they do not have correct equipment to tow us. So they reach back to Progressive and ask for increased amount to replace tire. To truck finally arrives at 1:45 pm to take tire, and returns with it at 3:30 pm and impact driver breaks. We have 7 of 8 lugs tightened but have to drive to shop to get 8th on.Leia mais
