Darwin to Kununurra

Before leaving Darwin, a quick dip at Berry Springs
Then brunch in Katherine to pick up a few things.
At Victoria River strolled to check out the sights
Finally stopping in Timber Creek for just one night.

At the campground watched them hand feed crocs
Then up to Nackaroo Lookout for sunset over rocks.
Time to pause, wonder and thankfully remember
All defence scouts who were Nackaroo members.

Approaching the state line that brings us to W.A.
Onto Kununurra where I’ve booked a 2 week stay.
Taking fresh fruit & veg across the border’s a sin
Having to clear items from our esky into the bin.

The scenery changes with longitudinal degrees
Marked noticeably by the grand old Boab trees.
Their oval nuts hang like Christmas decorations
Gnarly branches conjure monsters of imagination.Read more
