Kununurra is a typical outback town that’s small
Essential stores, but definitely no shopping mall.
A real lack of workers result in shelves to be filled
Notices for job applications even if you’re unskilled.

This shortage of staff affects everything around
Local businesses attempting to make up ground.
A couple of good coffee shops hit the spot
Sometimes open but quite often they’re not!

We’ve learnt there’s different rules in every state
Before noon here at a Bottlo you’ll have to wait.
A photo Identity card you’ll have to exhibit
For alcohol purchase there is a strict limit.

Our chalet overlooked Elephant Rock and the Lake
Which the Ord River Diversion Dam initially did make.
A mango farm neighbour plus a Sandalwood plantation
Ensures the Eastern Kimberley is a beautiful destination.

We explored Hidden Valley in Mirima National Park
Loved kayaking on Kununurra Lake just before dark.
Sauntered out to Molly Springs for a refreshing swim
But El Questro’s Zeberdee Springs was a definite win.

Walking to Emma Gorge was quite challenging
Navigating stones and rocks needed climbing.
A beautiful waterfall that sprayed down like rain
Whilst swimming underneath was worth the pain.
