Home Beach and inland tracks

Our 3 month house sit ended but feeling merry
Anticipating a new adventure lining up for a ferry.
A 40 minute ride then Stradbroke Island we reach
For Chris’s birthday wish to drive along the beach.

The Anchorage on Home Beach for 2 weeks I did book
An upper level unit with an expansive, seafront outlook.
Compact but spacious enough for us to live well
An extra bed for when Romana comes for a spell.

Windows were kept open to absorb the wave -break roar
Kookaburras grace our railing and above sea eagles soar.
The surf edged beach stretches away for miles
Our time to slow down and unwind for awhile.

Friends ventured over to spend a few days of fun
Early starts required to avoid intense midday sun.
Tyre pressures lowered to transverse inland tracks of sand
Experiencing the nature of this Quandamooka peoples land.

By foot the three kilometre Kabul trail we did take
Past grass tree lines then down to the Blue Lake.
Relaxed by banksias absorbing the calm atmosphere
With visions of indigenous burials that took place here.

Ventured onto Brown Lake stained by native tea tree
Blessed to appreciate so much local natural beauty.
Refreshed with a dip wallowing at the lake’s edge
Serenaded with a cacophony of frogs in the sedge.

The fresh local seafood is truly delicious to eat
From oyster entrees to sarni’s with prawn meat.
Amity Point at sunset occasionally threw in a fishing line
If nothing caught then the local chippie offers are just fine.Læs mere
