• Escaping to North Queensland

    14. juni 2020, Australien ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

Living in Australia definitely feels like a gift
As on June 1st our state restrictions did lift.
Freedom for residents to travel within Queensland
The Far North beckoned with its white costal sand.

Grey ribbon roads unfolded edged with pines
Kms decreasing on the green and white signs.
The severe summer bushfires have left their scars
Yet tree trunks bud despite being black & charred.

Landscape changed to acres of sugarcane
With a myriad of tracks for the haulage trains.
Above the harvest ready crops, flowers of grey
Seemingly ripple as in the breeze they do sway.

Airlie Beach was our first destination to de thaw
Too little tourism here now, never seen before.
Whitsunday Island resorts closed, no tours run
Conway Bay & Cedar Creek walked for our fun.

We chanced upon beautiful Hydeaway Bay
Being so deserted we felt like castaways.
Back on the road once rested, for 10 hours we drove
To our ultimate winter destination gorgeous Palm Cove.
