• Daintree to Mission Beach, FNQ

    July 25, 2020 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

A 4WD vehicle up here is a requirement to survive
Exploring the expansive space and trails to drive.
Bloomfield with Creek crossings definitely a must
Arriving in Cape Tribulation in a cloud of red dust.

A stunning location where rainforest meets the sea
With unspoilt beauty there’s nowhere I’d rather be.
A ferry needed to cross the Daintree & avoid crocs
Onto Mossman Gorge with it’s ancient boulder rocks.

Port Douglas is known for it’s four mile bay
Perfect place to relax and unwind for a day.
Reminiscing @ Nautilus under a palm canopy
The degustation menu ensured we were happy.

Heading south via Innisfail to the Cassowary coast
Which we can certainly verify lives up to it’s boast.
Our first wild cassowary seen at quaint Etty Bay
Followed by a couple more at remote Bingil Bay.

The Wet Tropics is the name given to this region
Experiencing showers despite being dry season.
But Mission Beach always easy to appreciate
Relishing brunch while catching up with mates.

Dunk Island admired just a few kilometres off shore
So many National Park tracks and forests to explore.
With so much in this area to absorb, research and learn
We leave a little unfulfilled, but know we will return.
