    Touchdown in Schottland! ✈️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

    Flug Wien ➔ Edinburgh überstanden und direkt von meinem persönlichen VIP-Guide Stuart am Flughafen eingesackt worden. Prioritäten wurden sofort richtig gesetzt: Erstes Ziel in Stirling war keine Burg, kein Museum… sondern direkt das erste Pub. Pint gezapft, Urlaub offiziell gestartet! 🍺 Slàinte!

    Made it safely from Vienna to Edinburgh! Was greeted right at the airport by my personal VIP guide, Stuart. We set our priorities straight immediately: First stop in Stirling wasn’t a castle or a museum... but the nearest pub. Fresh pint poured, holiday officially unlocked! 🍺 Slàinte!    Read more

    Burgen, Monster & Postkarten-Vibes 🦕🏰

    August 16 in Scotland ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

    Roadtrip-Start! Frühstück an einer Windmühle in Blair Atholl, danach Schlossgarten-Schlendern. Zum Mittagessen ging’s nach Fort Augustus und weiter nach Loch Ness (Urquhart Castle). Spoiler: Nessie hatte heute leider Homeoffice. 🤷‍♂️ Dafür entschädigte die Fahrt durch die wilde Landschaft bis zur Kintail Lodge. Abends noch kurz beim ikonischen Eilean Donan Castle vorbeigeschaut – Fotomotiv des Tages! 📸

    Roadtrip off to a flying start! Coffee & breakfast at a windmill in Blair Atholl, followed by a stroll through castle gardens. Next stop: lunch in Fort Augustus and off to Loch Ness & Urquhart Castle. Spoiler: Nessie was working from home today. 🤷‍♂️ The unreal landscape drive to Kintail Lodge made up for it though. Ended the day at Eilean Donan Castle – total postcard magic! 📸    Read more

    Skye Island Hopping & Chasing the Sun 🌧️🐟

    August 17 in Scotland ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

    Auf nach Isle of Skye bei Kaiserwetter! Einziger Haken: Parkplatzmangel am Old Man of Storr. Naja, Verlängerung für die Wanderung inklusive. 😉 Auf dem Rückweg gab's den obligatorischen Stopp in Sligachan, beste Fish & Chips und ein Wettrennen mit den Regenwolken. Belohnung in Fort William? Natürlich das nächste Traditions-Highlight: Ab ins Pub! 🍻

    Off to Isle of Skye with gorgeous sunny weather! Only catch: zero parking spots at the Old Man of Storr. Guess the hike just got a bit longer. 😉 Stopped in Sligachan on the way back for some epic Fish & Chips while trying to outrun the rain. Reward in Fort William? Another traditional landmark, of course: the local pub! 🍻    Read more

    Harry Potter Magic & Scottish Comfort 🚂🥃

    Glencoe empfängt uns mit „echtem“ Schotten-Wetter: Dauerregen! Aber die Three Sisters sehen selbst im Nebel fantastisch aus. Am Glenfinnan Viadukt gab’s wieder das Spiel „Finde einen Parkplatz“, aber der magische Anblick war den Trubel wert. Tagesziel Oban: Zeit für das Beste aus Schottland – fangfrisches Seafood und eine ordentliche Whisky-Verkostung! 🦪🥃

    Glencoe welcomed us with "proper" Scottish weather: non-stop rain! But the Three Sisters still look epic through the mist. At the Glenfinnan Viaduct, we played "hunt for a parking spot" again, but the magical view was worth the crowd. Final stop: Oban – time for the ultimate Scottish combo: fresh seafood & single malt whisky! 🦪🥃    Read more

    Rainy Ruins & Cozy Evening Vibes 🏰🌧️

    Es regnet immer noch? Egal, Regenjacke an und Spaziergang durch Oban! Auf dem Weg zurück Richtung Stirling machten wir Stopps bei der verwunschenen St. Conan’s Kirk und dem malerischen Kilchurn Castle. Da das Wetter nicht mitspielte, ging’s rechtzeitig zurück nach Stirling für einen tiefenentspannten Abend. 🛋️☕

    Still raining? Who cares! Raincoats on for a morning walk around Oban. On our way back to Stirling, we stopped by the quirky St. Conan’s Kirk and Kilchurn Castle. Since the rain wouldn't stop, we headed back early to enjoy a super relaxed evening in Stirling. 🛋️☕    Read more

    Solo Adventures in Edinburgh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👣

    Der Roadtrip ist vorbei! Mit dem Zug ging es heute nach Edinburgh. Da Guide Stuart wieder arbeiten musste, war ich auf Eigenregie unterwegs. Mission: Alle Aussichtspunkte der Stadt erobern, bei einer Walking Tour tief in die schottische Geschichte eintauchen und die unvergleichliche Atmosphäre der Royal Mile genießen! 🏰🌆

    Tatties, Shopping & Picture-Perfect Views 🥔🛍️

    Stärkung muss sein: Nach einem genialen „Tempting Tattie“ zum Lunch ging’s weiter über die Royal Mile. Weil Schottland seinem Wetter-Image alle Ehre machte und es immer wieder tröpfelte, habe ich Arthur’s Seat gegen eine gepflegte Shopping-Session und den Calton Hill eingetauscht. Ergebnis: Trockene Füße, volle Einkaufstaschen und trotzdem die beste Aussicht über die Stadt! 📸 skyline view = 10/10.

    Fuel first! Powered up with a delicious "Tempting Tattie" for lunch before exploring the rest of the Royal Mile. Since classic Scottish drizzle kept popping in and out, I ditched the slippery trek up Arthur’s Seat for some retail therapy and a walk up Calton Hill. Result: Dry feet, bags full of goodies, and still the absolute best view over Edinburgh! 📸 skyline view = 10/10.    Read more

    Goosebumps at the Military Tattoo! 🥁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴

    Abends war Stuart wieder am Start! Nach dem obligatorischen Warm-up im Pub ging es direkt zum Highlight: der Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo vor der beleuchteten Burgkulisse. Dudelsäcke, Trommeln, Lichtshow und pure Atmosphäre! Ein absolutes MUST-DO, wenn man im August in Schottland unterwegs ist. Was für ein Tag! 🔥🎆

    Stuart rejoined the mission for the evening! After a quick obligatory pub warm-up, we headed straight to the main event: The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo right in front of the illuminated castle.     Ausschlafen & königliche Geschichte 👑🏰

    Nach der späten Rückkehr aus Edinburgh war heute erst mal Ausschlafen angesagt! Ein Spaziergang an der frischen Luft hat die Lebensgeister aber schnell wieder geweckt – und Überraschung: Die Sonne meldet sich zurück!☀️ Perfektes Wetter für den Besuch im Stirling Castle, wo ich tief in die Geschichte von Mary Queen of Scots & Co. eingetaucht bin.

    After late-night travel back to Stirling, a proper lie-in was non-negotiable! Luckily, a morning walk in the fresh air woke me right up – and bonus: the sun finally decided to show up!☀️ Ideal weather for exploring Stirling Castle and diving deep into the drama of Mary Queen of Scots and local royalty.     From Wallace Monument to Prison Break 🏰🔒🍺

    Nach einem leichten Lunch ging’s zu Fuß über die Old Bridge hinauf zum ikonischen Wallace Monument. Für den Rückweg durfte es dann doch bequem der Bus sein – kurze Pause vor der nächsten Challenge! Im „Old Jail“ mussten wir aus einem Escape Room ausbrechen. Spoiler: Wir haben überlebt! 😉 Zur Belohnung gab’s abends im Pub natürlich wieder ein paar wohlverdiente Pints und Whiskys. 🥃🍻

    After a light lunch, I walked across the Old Bridge up to the iconic Wallace Monument. Decided to take the bus back though – needed to save some energy for our next challenge!     Der letzte Tag ist da. Koffer packen, Reisesnacks sichern und Wehmut bekämpfen. Auf dem Weg zum Flughafen gab es aber noch ein absolutes Highlight-Finale: Ein allerletztes Selfie bei den gigantischen „Kelpies“! 🐴✨ Danke Schottland, du warst rau, magisch, nass, wunderschön und extrem lecker! Slàinte mhath! 👋

    The final day has arrived. Time to pack up, stock up on road snacks, and say goodbye. But we had one last awesome stop on the way to the airport: a final selfie with the massive Kelpies! 🐴✨ Thank you Scotland for the rain, the pints, the incredible views, and unforgettable memories.
