    This weekend away is Jen’s 60th birthday gift from Ty and Ally.
    So we left mid morning to travel to Avoca and stopped at a cool little eatery called Zest on the way.
    Very highly rated on google and delivered...
    Lamb salad and big veggie breakfast for the golden girl.
    The new car is so enjoyable to drive which makes all road trips very pleasant.    Weiterlesen

    This is such a beautiful location and such a great place for this little house to be situated.
    It has everything that you need to enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings...small kitchenette, bathroom and bedroom.
    Cooking over an open fire is also very enjoyable and last night I cooked vegetarian Mexican inspired tortillas with cauliflower, beans, cheese and halloumi.    Weiterlesen

    Some more beautiful shots of the surrounding country. This destination was very well thought out as you have minimal contact with anyone else and so the solitude is very real and all encompassing.
    It is a great place to go device free and immerse yourself in the experience of being of the grid.
    The tiny house was also very well appointed and had everything that we required to enjoy our stay...I especially liked the campfire mitts and the iron campfire pan.    Weiterlesen

    Lots of great books to read whilst you stay in the tiny house.
    The Consolations of Philosophy was especially enlightening and it was fun to read up on Socrates, Montaigne, and some others. I have much in common with philosophers it seems with the work I do and the people and issues we discuss.
    Jen created this amazing dessert which was comprised of marshmallows, dark chocolate, gluten free biscuits and peanut butter layered on top of one another and then cooked over low heat on the campfire...delicious.
    We also did quite a few walks around the different areas of the property which was also very relaxing.    Weiterlesen

    Cooking food over a campfire is a really cool experience and provides an insight into just how much energy you burn finding wood and then creating the fire and then keeping the fire going.
    The nights were very cold so we had to ensure that Ace was sufficiently warm...and as you can see we had the best weather imaginable for the experience.
    I was looking forward to doing some four wheel driving close by however the one track that was close by only went for a couple of hundred metres which was a little disappointing.
    Having said that being able to take the car off road is really cool.    Weiterlesen

    Home Trip

    We called into one of the little towns on the way home…Avoca. Some of the architecture was so reminiscent of the early years when every town had a bank and the other essential stores such as hardware, hotels etc
    This little town had only recently established a Chinese style garden which paid homage to the early Chinese settlers in the area that travelled to Australia to find their fortune with gold.    Weiterlesen
