It was discovered that to "protect it from Burmese invaders that rummaged in the area during a siege in the late sukhotjai period", this 12 foot, 5.5 ton Buddha. This 14th Century Buddha, finally revealed in 1954 is worth over $325 million in 18 carat gold.
