The Marquesas Islands are not a separate Country, or are they? Make sense of this, they are an administrative subdivision of French Polynesia as an overseas collectivity of France. They are governed by the Assembly of French Polynesia based in Papeete, Tahiti, with high-level local infrastructure handled in Nuku Hivaz and they are a semi-autonomous territory of France.
