Once we returned to the ship (and got the sand out of every nook & cranny) we were ready for an entertaining evening before we took off and left Namibia. A local cultural choir group, the Mascato Youth Choir (which began in 1996 by a music teacher when funding for music in th eschools stopped) is based in the coastal town of Swakopmund, Namibia with over the years more than 2000 coastal youth as members of the Choir. The choir was founded on the philosophy and goal for the coastal youth to receive music tuition, and has since become a proud cultural export product of Namibia. The Mascato Youth Choir operates as a primary cultural platform for young singers aiming to enter the professional music industry. The choir is now much more and is regarded as a macrocosm of the multicultural Namibian society, symbolizing a spirit of unity and diversity. They have performed with over 50 choirs from different countries and has sung all over the World winning many competitions as well as playing for Heads of State and dignitaries. The choir is a platform for young singers who want to professionally prepare themselves into the music industry and sitting in the front row, we thoroughly enjoyed their incredible voices and harmonies.

The day had begun with cycling, a long drive to play in the dunes, an update on the conditions here, a local choir show, found time to work on my Shavuot and Pentecost Church Services and presentation for tomorrow, a great dinner, an ABBA concert and then ... what is better than a Gloria tribute with a "Get on Your Feet" late nite dance party!Read more
