• Take Your Parents to Work Day

    July 30 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 68 °F

Our first day in NYC was filled with "Take Your Parents to Work" day in Lee's new office and company,

Lee now works full-time for GLO Graffiti and MeshMap, a New York based startup company that offers Augmented Reality (AR) Tours in mid-town. So you ask, what is that? Lee has joined this technology-based company that had been building applications using AR glasses, where the wearer can see out (like sunglasses) while at the same time see objects that are 3-D developed animated content and appear to be right in front of you but are “really not there”. This location-based content along with user created graffiti is brought to physical real-world locations around NYC.

Lee is the lead tour guide whose role is to use these tools to build and deliver immersive tours and gaming experiences around NYC by transforming city streets and sites into story-driven interactive tours. The creators call this “enhancing real-world spatial awareness with contextual digital data”. As the lead GLO guide, he showed us how to use the AR headsets and led us through Midtown to learn and play with graffiti on an immersive gaming tour. The glasses and game controller allow us to draw and be creative as well as collaborative and interact with other users wearing the glasses. Currently, the tour is along 6½ Avenue. as you spray on digital walls, play mini-games, and learn the story of New York graffiti. FUN!

The evening was filled. Karen & Lee attending and enjoying the Tony winning Broadway show "The Lost Boys" where vampires, rebellion, and rock collide. The ‘80s music includes original hits by The Rescues, like “Belong to Someone” and “Have to Have You" based on the 1987 film, now stars Shoshana Bean as Lucy, LJ Benet as Michael, Ali Louis Bourzgui as David, and Benjamin Pajak as Sam.

Bruce went to see “Les Misérables: The Arena Concert Spectacular”. I bought ONE ticket 6+ months ago when it was announced, in order to enhance my 30+ experiences of seeing the Broadway show (and other productions) of Les Misérables! This Radio City Music Hall concert is the conclusion of its historic global tour where they cherry-picked the very best for the leading roles and the lineup of soloists is incredible, amazingly the best of the best.

The atmosphere was electrifying with Radio City filled every night with FANS. Since “everyone” seemed to be long time fans of the show (as I am) and therefore it was like a rock concert with screaming and applauding to every song, many with standing ovations. The 22-performances here sold over 115,000 tickets, finishing the global tour with over 1.3 million fans attending and singing in 34 cities (17 countries) internationally. The touring company included a cast and orchestra of over 65 from 21 nationalities, visiting the UK, Ireland, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, The Netherlands, Japan, Mainland China, the Philippines, Australia and finally New York City, bringing the concert to the United States for the very first time. WOW!

“SURELY THE GREATEST MUSICAL OF THE LATTER HALF OF THE 20TH CENTURY” CHICAGO TRIBUNE (I would add …the greatest for the first quarter of the 21st century too).

“AS CLOSE TO A RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCE AS MUSICAL THEATER CAN GET. IT’S EVERYTHING LES MIZ SHOULD BE.”
    I AGREE!

    I LOVED THE EXPERIENCE!
