• Central Synagogue - We Missed You

    July 31 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F

We have not been at Services in person at Central Synagogue for 9 months and although every week our "backdrop for Services on the ship was a picture of the Central Synagogue Sanctuary" (see photo) ... it was clearly not the same. We were once again in awe of the beauty of the this building that is transformed to such a meaningful place for everyone on Shabbat. Central is not only majestic, it is a sacred, holy, spiritual and welcoming place ... and an oasis in the busy city.
    It is our:
    - Beit Knesset (בֵּית כְּנֶסֶת): Our "House of Gathering"
    - Beit Tefilah (בֵּית תְּפִלָּה): Our "House of Prayer"
    - Beit Midrash (בֵּית מִדְרָשׁ): Our "House of Study."

So after Services, we strolled over to BARTLEY'S PUB.... Why? Under the category of it's a small, friendly World, we ran into Mike O'Brien, a friendly local as we strolled the coast of Newtownsmith Dún Laoghaire Dublin. He directed us on how to enjoy James Joyce Day here where Joyce was born and wrote most of his books. We went to the bathing area, mentioned Ulysees, and Joyce's Martello Tower as well as Glasthule where all the ladies were festooned in 1920 's Garb long dresses and parasols and all the men were Sporting Straw Hats. Mike also put us in contact with his son Darragh (Mossy) who happens to work at BARTLEYS. Yes, Mike bought us a round of shots as we chatted about "chance meetings" Worldwide. A fun way to celebrate Shabbat!
