Cleveland - MOI and Other Fun Stuff

What a fun few hours at the MOI … and we learned “stuff” too!!!
While downtown we also saw: the site where Abe Lincoln’s body was placed in an open square now occupied by the Cuyahoga County Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument (honoring more than 9,000 local Civil War veterans and dedicated on July 4, 1894 with a 125’ granite and bronze landmark), Jacobs Field (too bad Progressive) where the Cleveland Indians (too bad) play, the Arcade (America's first indoor shopping arcade when it opened in May 1890), Cleveland Trust Company Building (Beaux-Arts, Neoclassical, and Renaissance Revival architecture and its magnificent stained-glass rotunda), Jurisprudence Statue, Superman statue (for his creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster who invented the character), the Fountain of Eternal Life (honoring the Greater Cleveland military personnel who served, died, or went missing in action), the Historic Terminal Tower, the Life is Sharing the Same Park Bench (honoring Carl Stokes, the first Black mayor of a major U.S. city) and the historic Tiffany Glass Building. WHEW!! Busy Afternoon...now off to the airport for a few flights that hopefully will be on time and get us back to LA before tomorrow.Read more
