Martinique

Today, we went on a wonderful tour of Martinique with Sabastiano, an Italian gentleman who has made the island his home. We visited the Sacré-Couer Catholic church modeled after its namesake in Paris and enjoyed the view of Fort-de-France below. From there, we journeyed into the rain forest, stopping to view waterfalls and a botanical garden. The La Paz rum factory was closed for the holiday, but we were able to view the château and grounds. We stopped at the ruins of Saint Pierre, the city destroyed by the eruption of Mt. Pelé in 1902. Then, a brief stop at a black sand beach before driving the scenic coastline back to Fort-de-France.もっと詳しく
