Dürnstein & Danube River

Our first stop this morning was the medieval town of Dürnstein. It has a beautiful abbey, but its true claim to fame is that Richard the Lionhearted was imprisoned and held for ransom in the castle on the hills above the town. England paid the ransom (currently valued at roughly $3B) to Austria to secure his release.

We began our leisurely Danube River cruise in Spitz and enjoyed the beautiful scenery as we journeyed toward Melk.Meer informatie
